I'm hearing that HC is going to be playing without the Big RB tonight. Any truth to that? I have friends that have seen both teams play. If the big RB doesn't play, this game won't be close. If he does play, this could get interesting as long as he isn't banged up

Yea he's banged up. He took a knee to the ankle and it does look good for him to play tonight. He was really looking forward to returning to the scene of "THE HIT" and playing Holmes.

I'll be rooting for the Indians, but I think this one goes to Holmes. If there's anything you can count on Holmes for in football, it's having a strong couple-few games at the beginning of the season, getting everyone to think, "Could this be the year they put it all together?", and then have their annual decline as their players withdraw from the team throughout the season. I think Holmes holds the advantage for size and numbers, and they're just going to be too much for Holy Cross to overcome at this point in the season.

 

Here's to hoping the Indians prove me wrong.

Think what you'd like. It's not condescending. It's true. And yes, Coach Nevels does work hard. The fact is, Holmes' team loses lots of players every year. Their enrollment as a whole traditionally has some of the highest attrition numbers in the state (as does Lloyd Memorial's enrollment), and that - among other things - crosses over into football roster numbers for them.

 

Nice work bringing Cov Cath into the discussion too. Your agenda is pretty clear - and pretty tired. For what it's worth, check your facts before you spout off. Let's take a look at the results of the "recent years" for the Cov Cath/Holmes series. Would the last decade be "recent" enough?

He is playing from what I've heard through the grapevine. You all are also neglecting the fact that that Holy Cross is HUGE up front anchored by Senior Center Rick Zion. The left side is big too with 6'5" 260lb Justin Gangwish at Left Tackle. Don't underestimate the Indians run game this year because they've got the blockers to go with the RB. This is gonna be a nasty combination for teams to deal with.

When I see a colonel logo talking about Holmes attrition numbers why wouldn't I bring in Covcath? How are you certain of Holmes numbers? My agenda was only to get my yard done before I left for Ashland. So I was right, 2 of the last 5 Holmes Covcath games were closer than most would expect.

Holmes gave Ncc a competitive scrimmage. Ncc is 40pts better than Holy Cross. Holmes will win easily.

I was at that scrimmage and to be perfectly honest both teams looked really bad. If Holmes didn't commit so many mistakes they could have won that scrimmage. NCC is way down and so is Holmes from what I saw. The talent gap has closed between all 3 schools, so HC has a chance to get a win if they can run the ball and limit the big play scores.

Big doesn't always equate to great players. Collectively, that group was not very good last year, and will have to improve a lot to make everyone a believer.

They seem to be blocking better this year. The big RB averaged 11 yds per carry at Bellevue last week.
