Holmes @ Covington Holy Cross Predictions

When I see a colonel logo talking about Holmes attrition numbers why wouldn't I bring in Covcath? How are you certain of Holmes numbers? My agenda was only to get my yard done before I left for Ashland. So I was right, 2 of the last 5 Holmes Covcath games were closer than most would expect.

I didn't realize that talking about a school other than my own was grounds for people taking pot-shots at mine. Thanks for clearing that up, Boss. My certainty about Holmes' numbers comes from my good acquaintance with administrators from two NKY public high schools, as well as from having paid attention to the NKY programs - including Holmes - over the years.

As for Cov Cath/Holmes games being "closer than most would expect", I'm assuming you're talking about the last two years? Feel free to go back into the past game recap threads to check me, but for those of you who weren't there:

• In 2013 Cov Cath put up 32 unanswered points in the first half. Holmes scored their first TD when they intercepted Cov Cath's sophomore QB Ben Dressman, who was still working out his passing game after being promoted to starter when starting QB Wagner went out at the beginning of the season with an injury. Then Holmes scored their remaining two TD's on the second team defense, which had been switched in midway through the third quarter. Cov Cath put up one more TD with offensive starters in the third quarter, and then switched out to second stringers to score their remaining points. I guess that's closer than expected, huh?
  
• In 2012 Cov Cath put up 35 unanswered points in the first 26 minutes of the game. Cov Cath pulled starters when it was 49-7 with about 8 minutes left in the game. Holmes threw one TD pass to make it 49-14, returned a fumble made by a Cov Cath third stringer with 5 minutes left in the game, and then returned a punt on Cov Cath's second string punt team after a bad snap and a bad punt. Final score, 49-28. Really close game.
