Sacred Heart 2014/15

Looks like it's confirmed that four freshman have made the varsity squad. I fully expect to see all of these freshman get major minutes on the floor this year. Berger is a stud phenom that most likely will start at the beginning of the season. The other three bring a lot to the table and should earn playing time at the expense of some of last years veterans.

I heard reports that some of the upperclassman are bringing it in the post. Looking like it's shaping up to be a big year. This is a very quick and fast team. First up is Highlands in the Valkyries gym.

LOL. Legacy full of themselves...

Grace Berger played for Focus on their 2014 team. I believe she played with Ky Premier at the Sept showcase.

LOL. So she played 4 yrs up. I recall they had a big that player 1-2 yes up that would play both. If the same girl she was even really good then.

U of L was at a practice this weekend looking at her. SHA is going to surprise many this year.

From everything I've read on this thread, I conclude that SHA has a 7th region dynasty in the making. It reminds me of the early acclaim for Anderson County's wave of young players a few years back - the class that just graduated. There's lots of pressure to live up to when the hoopla begins this early. But the key factor that distinguishes the two programs is that AC was restricted in its pool of players to draw from, while the SHA has virtually no limits. Time will tell how it all plays out, it always does.

Does berger have any scholarships?

I know she is on the radar as a player to watch and has caught the eye from many schools. It's a little early for offers as she is a Freshman this year. She will play at the next level, but where is the rest of the story.

Who knows if they have a "dynasty in the making". I don't think I stated that, but they will be competitive for the next few years. I still have them ranked in the pre-season behind Male and Manual. All three of these teams will fight it out for the 7th region crown.

At this time of year it's too unpredictable to rank who is better than who because of all the variables involved. (Health,

grades, Parents, Team chemistry, etc). Players you never heard of will make drastic strides of improvement from the previous year allowing a team to take the next step in having a winning season or winning the region. The potential is there for this team, but we will see if they can reach their potential. That's up to the players and the Coaching staff.

As far as pressure, no one that I know of is making any claims winning the region this year or for years to come. I'm just sharing my observations and opinions, which means absolutely NOTHING. LOL

After analyzing the recent scrimmage I came away with how much potential SHA has on its roster. Freshman Kia Sivils has a huge upside! Extremely fast on the court and plays with a high motor. Cierra Scott also played with great energy grabbing many rebounds and scoring utilizing her athletic ability in he paint.

Coach Moir stated Sacred Heart would be a work in progress at the beginning of this year, but as the year progressed she expected the Valkyries to be vastly improved. She also stated this won't be a team others want to play come tourney time.

The early season rotations showcased veterans who had the opportunity to lead this team with their experience. It appears in the last few games that changes have taken place with the roster giving others players the chance to help this team achieve it goals. Maybe Coach Moir's prediction is coming true. This team is completely different than they were at the beginning of the year. Younger players are stepping up to help the Valkyries become very competitive in the 7th region.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't beat duPont Manual at Manual this coming Friday, then Newport Central Catholic on the weekend.

Sacred Heart team chemistry is coming together and the Valkyries look like they are working towards peaking at the right time of the year. The LIT had to instill confidence in this group that they now know they can play with anyone. I think they believe they can be a player in the 7th region. Should be a fun next four weeks of basketball!
