They have a good system in place, they always have talent in place to replace graduating players, there never seems to be a dropoff in talent. I expect them to sweep their district games and have a good chance of winning the region. After that, as spindoc said, the sky is the limit. Once you get that far anything is possible and the Rams have been knocking on the door lately. Passed by the football and baseball fields Friday, both look great. Especially after hearing that, someone from a different part of KY of course....always nice to hear something like that.

The team had a little scrimmage tonight under the lights. The first and second string guys were evenly split into two different teams. They only played about fifty snaps, progressively increasing each night. They will be scrimmaging each evening until Wednesday if anyone wants to come watch. A couple players have stood out to me- Trey Potter, Senior, WR/DB, Christian Sargeant, Senior, OL/DL, and Justin Fairchild, Freshman, OL/DL. Potter shined tonight mostly at WR, catching some screen passes and making some moves up field. Sargeant played better at defensive tackle than at offensive guard. Freshman OL/DL Fairchild really shined tonight, although he went against other freshman, sophomores and some juniors, he looked like he was a junior playing against the other kids. Would not be surprised if he gets moved up to varsity scrimmaging by the end of the week.

 

However, tonight is only the first night, the first practice, and first glimpse. Things will change dramatically by tomorrow night, after an 8 a.m. practice and an 1 p.m. practice. Anyone can look good on the first day, but who will wake up and be ready to do it all over again? Separating the men from the boys tomorrow. Excited that RAM football is here!

Something interesting I heard today: Russell will partake in the first EKC Grid game at Raceland this year. Any confirmation? If so, a bit awkward for Coach Maynard to be standing on the opposite side of the field, wouldn't you say? Lol.

That would look a little awkward, at least for now :lol2:. I was disappointed in coach Maynard leaving at first but after thinking about it for a while I would say that I am just glad that Raceland has a coach that wants to be here, not looking at somewhere else. My opinion both Raceland and Russell have Excellent coaches that are where they have wanted to be.

As for Russell, I don't really care either way. I don't hate or dislike Russell, don't pull for or against them (except if we (Raceland) or Ashland plays the Devils. I have nothing but respect for the proud Russell program, what Legendary Coach Ivan McGlone built there before he was disrespected, pushed out by the RHS Administration, booster club, fans. Gratitude / appreciation are such a good qualities, uh ?

About the grid....I hadn't heard anything on who would be here. Personally I feel that it may be too soon to have Russell in but then again that's not my decision either.

On another note, tonight's scrimmage was much better than last night's. I was really impressed with the offensive line tonight. They have made a huge improvement from last night's performance to tonight's performance. Young looked sharp tonight at QB as well. The line has really stepped up in the past two days and they are looking much better than I, personally, anticipated. Day three starts tomorrow!

The team is getting better and better with every snap. To this point, each player has gotten better with every practice. Really excited to see what happens at Raceland this year. Sixteen days!

Real good effort by the team tonight. Messer played some QB tonight and did a real nice job. Freshman Damien Black played QB for the other team tonight and did some nice things. Might see some playing time this year as well. Walker had a real nice night running the ball. Good things are happening at Raceland!

Also, I am seeing some nice improvement from the offensive and defensive lines. Throughout team camp, they have learned to play together and as a unit. Reece Hall has come a long way as a lineman and I saw some good things from him tonight. Really excited for Raceland this year. They are much better than most people think at this point in the year.
