Doesn't the SS usually play a pretty normal position on the shift on Bruce, and the 3B plays on the other side of 2B? I could see it if the play is hit to the SS, but if it's hit to the right side I would think the SS would have no problem covering 3rd.

Pretty sure the SS usually plays almost right up the middle, slightly to the 3rd base side of 2nd, and fairly deep. If Billy is running on the pitch, I don't see anyway he doesn't beat the SS to 3rd.

August 2, 201412 yr Watching the Reds play is like watching a World Cup soccer game. The Reds' pitching is so good, they rarely give runs up. The Reds' hitting is so bad they rarely score. It gives each scoring situation extra importance.
