Trinity High School hires Rick Arnold as new baseball coach

 

"Trinity High School on Monday named Rick Arnold as its new baseball coach, succeeding Steven Tompkins, who held the position forr 12 years.

 

Arnold, a 1986 Trinity graduate, played baseball at the University of Louisville and then worked in local law enforcement until he retired in 2011. Since then, he has served as executive director of the Catholic School Athletic Association, which he will continue to do so."

Looks like price was right.

 

I think Rick Arnold should be a prime candidate for the Trinity job. IIRC, already runs the Catholic Middle School Baseball League and knows a lot.

Find a plot of land somewhere reasonably close to Trinity's campus and use Guido to give them an offer they cannot refuse to sell the land to Trinity to build a baseball field on so Trinity does not have to lease the property on Thurman Hutchins. Unfortunately, approaching land owners and offering fair market pricing to them has not worked. I don't recall how many plots of land have already been inquired about purchasing but I do know it pretty much knocks out everything remotely close to Trinity.

I agree with Bert, but there is not any cheap land in St Matthews area. Trinity should have acquired Voll Field (St Matt Park behind Best Buy) when it had the chance several years ago. However, the primary reason X has such an advantage is the sports turf, which enables the players to work on fundamentals all winter, and it prepares them for 7th region tournament, which is on U of L's turf field. The X field is nicer than many D2-3 college fields.

Not just there not any cheap land, Trinity has not been able to find someone to sell land anywhere remotely close to the lands fair market value which is pretty expensive as is in St. Matthews.

The fields at Thurman-Hutchins park are actually quite nice and offer a scenic view of the Ohio River. They are about 10 minutes from T's campus.

TC- not flaming here, but the T-H fields are not very nice. The infield has clumps of grass everywhere and the dirt is very uneven. But, my point is, the sports turf allows year-around play, the grass field at Thurman is unplayable much of the time because it is too wet.

Thurman-Hutchins park is nice, the fields could be better but since Trinity does not own them, they really can't do too much.
