Walton-Verona 2014/15

Featured Replies

Looking at Walton's schedule and I noticed that at least 13 of their first 15 games are on the road. They don't play their first home game until the 6th game in on Dec 13th, and they don't play their second home game until after the new year on Jan 2nd. Of those 13 early season away games, they play the likes of Paul Laurence Dunbar, Boone County, Gallatin, Campbell County, Cooper, Owensboro Catholic (at Conner) Highlands (at Conner).

That is crazy. Hopefully it will do well to prepare them for finishing strong the last half of the season. They will be road battle tested for sure.

I will have to start saving up those Kroger fuel points. :thumb:

That is of course due to the gym being renovated. Will be nice when it's done but i am sure that it is a pain now! Hopefully the Bearcats will remain healthy.

They're fine with someone else being the target.

Perhaps its Gallatin that gets the target, Cats' Pause picked them 3rd overall. :D

The gym, changes to the layout and renovations are going to be nice. I have heard the construction is ahead of schedule, so hopefully it is done on time for the boys. They have their first home game Dec 2nd I think.

And yes....the Lady Bearcats will remain healthy this year!!! :thumb:

Easy now. I heard that scon36 paid Mr Herndon to drop Trimble to 6th, in order to fly under the radar, LOL.

Who do you look to lead them this year?

Hailey Ison, girl is a beast!

Who do you look to lead them this year?

Not heard much on BGP about her but sounds like you can't count out Mills, according to khsaa site she averaged almost 16ppg last year and is lone returning senior. Had high 3pt shooting percentage also

Agree, you can't count out Allie Mills! She will be Walton's one senior leading a big class of juniors. She is the last player left over from the back to back 8th region champion team and ALL A state tournament champion teams. She has a ton of experience, and along with her scoring, and her defense, she will be an invaluable leader for the Bearcats!

Looking for a big year from Allie. She really needs to step up and be a leader on this team along with Haley Ison.

Walton has the potential of being a very good basketball team this year. Some girls will probably have to play out of their normal position this year especially at the point, but will be fine. They have good shooters with range, lengthy wings that can shoot, rebound, handle the ball, get to the rim, defend and get out in transition, and an unselfish post player that screens like a man.

Agree on the potential. Like many teams, they will have a lot of work to get there. Hopefully by Christmas break, they'll be there.

Love the bolded. Especially love that this one is back from injury. She was missed last year, especially in certain games. Yes, a great screener and unselfish, but also an excellent passer from the post, physical and very, very smart. She will mean a bunch to Walton's success and versatility.

Agree with all the bold!
