Engineers are looking for a new head coach. Coach Combs turned in his resignation. I heard through the grapevine that he was offered a teaching job but declined.

 

 

Coach Combs is headed to Madison Southern.

Congratulations to Coach Combs. He's a great coach and an even better person.

I think a lot of Coach Combs from interactions I've had with him coaching baseball a few years back. He's a great guy and did great things with Estill County's program. He'll be an asset for Madison Southern.

 

Any thoughts on where Estill County goes from here? Combs has left it among the better jobs in the 14th Region.

Brian Crowe (Dad of Blake Crowe who played at Estill a few seasons ago), Trent Singleton, Drew Barnett - All 3 of those applied for it last time it was open so I'd say they will this time around.

 

Maybe some coaches at smaller schools will apply like Jenkins, Cordia and so on.

 

I honestly think Brian Crowe should be the one to get it. Lives and breathes baseball. I honestly think he would do a great job at Estill.

Estill is a great job opportunity for any coach. They're a baseball school, really emphasize that sport. They have won a couple (maybe 3) 14th region titles since entering the region on 2006. They've had some very good teams in the past but were always butting heads with 10th region powerhouses, particularly multiple state champion Harrison County, as well as Clark and Montgomery. Before they entered the 10th in the mid 1970's they were in the tough 11th region with all the Lexington/Bluegrass schools. The 14th has been a little kinder to them.

If what I just heard happens. Then WOW is all I got to say. Would be a huge get for Estill. I won't say anything just yet.
