Pittsburgh is fun but very weak competition for the Chiefs and not a true tournament format, the Chiefs should not lose a game there.

 

The Chiefs start the week in the Connie Mack Regional tournament at Midland before heading north.

In a rematch of the 9th Region semifinal, HHS SR Joe Martin and Conner SR Blaise Ostertag put up zeros for 6 innings only to have the ATY Roosters plate 1 run in the top of the 7th inning on a squeeze bunt to take a 1-0 lead. The KY Colonels battled back to score 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th on a single by St Henry grad and TMC signee Tony LaCorte to win 2-1.

 

Martin was as sharp as I've seen him and was the hard luck losing pitcher. Ryle grad Jeremy Downs retired the last 2 batters to earn the win in relief of Ostertag. ATY had several chances in the earlier innings but couldn't plate a run.

 

Game was played in Nashville as part of the 18u wood bat tournament.

Chiefs not only in the Connie Mack Regional, but in the Finals. Dunn threw a complete game 2 hitter against Flash Baseball to win 1-0 this morning and Joey Cochran threw a complete game 3-4 hitter against the Riverbats to win 2-0 this afternoon.

I guess really not the reward you would want, but they have went through a lot of pitching. I know they have a quite a bit more though. Chiefs did have them go through 4 on Monday. Z. Shannon went the distance in his outing and I have no idea what the used against CBC today. I agree with the format of this tournament 100%. I sat and looked at the brackets a few times and still really didn't figure it out. If Hunter was 100% he would have faced them on Monday more than likely though. Either way, it's pretty nice outing regardless of the outcome by the Chiefs! :thumb:

Tomahawks now 2-0 in the AABC World Series in Dallas. Will win tonight vs Texas Frozen Ropes. Down 1-0 into 7th, Hawks plate 6, capped by BWood's Stringer with bases clearing two out triple. Ropes score three in bottom. Michigan LHP Tyler Butzin comes in and strikes out final two for W and leaves the bases full. Exciting game, great baseball being played. I'm going to Connie Mack WS in few days so didn't make this trip, wish I had. Did get to watch it streamed live though, very nice production. Play in semis tomorrow night vs DBat, one of the top two teams in Dallas.

I bought a package via the coaches aid site, which I linked to via the mmws.org site. No free link, sorry, but the package I bought allows me to watch various WS games throughout country, kinda cool. Watched Redskins last night from Farmington NM. Headed out there later today, great atmosphere with packed houses for every game.

 

As update, THawks remain the only unbeaten team in tourney, winning two on Friday. Attempting to understand a AABC bracket is way out of my league. I would think that THawks would have just won the winners bracket and waiting on losers bracket winner, but nope. Today they play a one loss team from Canada to get to finals. Those things are simply illogical. Hawks should be ok, they are choosing today between Ga Tech commit RHP Jay Wilson (Loveland HS) and Michigan commit RHP Jack Weisenberg. Tough choice. Again, two more 90 plus arms to throw out there. Lexington Catholic RHP Anthony Ethington took a no no into 7th last night, but gave up couple walks and an infield single to give up a run, but still threw a CG. BW kids continue to impress. Slusher had couple hits, as did Combs in the afternoon game. Stringer stays red hot, as he has all summer.

The THawks did lose a close one to Ontario late yesterday but still advance to the championship game today with one loss. They play DBAT, another one loss team who the THawks defeated earlier in tournament 5-2.

THawks lost in the championship game 4-1. Outhit DBAT 9-5 and had an early 1-0 lead.

THawks fell to DBat today 4-1. Ni details, didnt get to watch this one. Proud of the boys, great run and very impressive season. Think I saw they only lost 3 games in their age group, playing best of the best. Beechwood fans, be proud of those three. Not just great baseball players, but great young men that represent your community well all over the country. Peace out.
