When was the last time three mountain teams were playing in the state quarter finals.

South Laurel, Hazard, and Johnson Central still playing. Amazing. There seem to be several sophomores (and younger) on these teams as well.

I misread your post. I couldn't say when the last time it happened, if ever.

Lawrence Co was in the finals in 2009. Pikeville made it to the 2nd round a few years back as well from memory. Its not hard to search out on the KHSAA website going back into the early 2000's but if you want before then, good luck.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I like it!

Some might argue that South Laurel isn't a "true mountain team," but that's probably for another thread.

I know at least half of Laurel County would have to be considered very much "mountains", especially the sections close to the Jackson County, Knox, and Clay County lines. I'm speaking strictly in topographical/geographical terms.

You're probably leaning toward more of a south central Kentucky angle due to the county's long affiliation with the 12th region. But that affiliation stills doesn't make the mountains in Laurel, or the coal fields, disappear.
