I think some of sophomores to be will contribute next season. Spencer Pangallo, Job Freppon and Cole Carmack are very nice players and will gain significant minutes at the varsity level. I saw Kobe Talon during baseball and that kid is getting bigger every time I see him. I think NCC will be fine, biggest questions are QB, which underclass men step up and staying healthy.

 

Not being petty by any means, but it's Kole Carmack the little brother of Konner Carmack, and yes I agree, I think these players will make a big impact on defense and special teams as well. These young men will have big shoe's to fill and really good player's in front of them. IMO there is so much talent on this team, but like was posted in a earlier post you have a team of maybe 55 compared to 75 to 100, it does take a toll. I wish the best of luck to the BRED'S and hope all stay healthy and injury free, but it will be hard with the schedule they play, (BIG TEAMS).:isurrender:

No way they go 0-5. I'm not going to start a ruckus, but everyone of those teams are beatable by the Breds. They're going to surprise the teams who think just because they are 2a and they beat them last year, its going to be a cake walk this year. Everyone of those teams have lost "significant" players either through graduation or wanting to concentrate on another sport. Campbell lost a lot to graduation and even more with Wilson not coming back and SK is minus Kuntz. IMO, both of those teams have more to worry about at QB than NCC. I think the biggest test for NCC is Ashland and controlling UK recruit Baker. If their defense can clamp down on him the running game for the first 5 opponents are in trouble.

Not that I am trying to impersonate uk#1, but newcath doesn't have the horses in the barn to compete with SK this year, they (newcath) are hard nosed kids, but this year won't be competitive against SK, IMO.

I don't think anyone on this site would confuse you with him, LOL! No doubt SK will have a good team, my only thoughts were that BK was a huge part of SK's success. Although Franzen was an adequate QB, NCC didn't rely on him as much (because of other talented players) as SK relied on BK. NCC's defense kept them in games more than the offense did last year. They couldn't out score you, so they had to try and keep you down. I wish the best to coach Marksberry and SK, but just not against NCC.

You know, I have heard and read the above bolded quite a few times over the years at the beginning of football seasons. However, 9 times out of 10 NewCath is always there at the end. I never count out the BREDS.

I agree that some soph's will contribute, but I think it will mostly be special teams . Remember, this wasn't a senior dominated team last year, so I think you see more upperclassmen playing than soph's.

I for one am excited for the NCC - Ashland matchup. I have a lot of respect for NCC and nky football as a whole. Hopefully Ashland will keep an out of district nky team on the schedule from here on out. Hopefully the NCC fans will enjoy Putnam stadium, which iundergoing a full renovation. I also hope it is completed in time for our game. As of right now it looks like the locker rooms may not be completed, which would put visiting teams in verity middle school and Ashland likely in a portable. The rest of the stadium is coming along nicely though for this first phase of renovations.

Lack of locker room facilities should be fine by NCC since they really don't even have one for Home games. Baker vs NCC defense should be fun. NCC better hope it is 90 degrees and he can't carry the rock 40 times.

I don't know anything about NCCs locker rooms, but I would be surprised if Ashland can approve bids and get both sides built in the next 6 weeks. But it may very well be 90 degrees when the two teams play in mid August.

They rent the stadium they play Home games in from Newport and do not have a true locker room. They have a small area under the stands to use but in August/September teams (especially the visitors) usually just stay on the field during halftime.

 

How much of the O-line returns for Ashland? It does not really matter all that much because most of the yards Baker had against NCC last year came on broken plays where he just cut back across the field. Will they have any downfield throwing ability?

They always lose 50-75% of the o-line due to graduation. That said, they should be ok there as they always have plenty of guys waiting for their turn. As far as throwing the ball, that's up in the air, no pun intended. I believe they have the ability, but whether they do it or not is anyone's guess.
