Probably because they actually believed this was about finding out the truth and getting justice for the victims during the first four investigations into the matter... but that ship has now sailed and Congressional Republicans are gearing up for a political fight with the White House and nothing else.

 

We know what happened at Benghazi; we know how it happened; we know why it happened; we know who did it. This is now about whether or not the administration deflected attention for the attack's cause after it was already over for political cover. There isn't anything more to be found out about the actual events of that day and certainly nothing more that will be found out.

Nothing more will be found out about what happened as long as Democrats successfully obstruct the investigations. If there are 10 incriminating documents that are withheld from investigators, while 100,000 innocuous documents are produced, then there is no need to investigate any further, right?

 

That, in a nutshell, is the Obama administration's strategy for dealing with every scandal.

The question is what was the CIA doing with at least two dozen or more people in an 'annex'.

 

It will be interesting to see how much of this comes out. Whatever it was it was a 'covert operation' that is what the CIA does in other countries. Will the mission of this operation be made public? It is hard to say. Of the spectrum of speculation the most benign is that this operation to was recover Gaddafi regime weapons that were now in the hands of rouge groups. A less benign operation would be that of recovering weapons that the CIA had provided rogue groups to help overthrow Gaddafi. The least benign is a combination of the two and a process of shipping the arms to Syrian groups opposing Assad via Turkey. Regardless of the operation it is certain that the CIA function does not what it fully out in any manner. I would be surprised if the mission of the operation came to full light.

 

 

As to the real time events - many people know what happened. But how far they will follow the truth is unknown. What will be the cut off point of the truth. We know that Ansar al-Sharia was responsible. But what is often glossed over looked is that that group only came into being after Gaddafi was deposed. In essence the US helped create this 'terrorist group'. Did we lose control of what was supposed to be a friendly operative group? Did it turn on the US (CIA) when the CIA tried to recover weapons from it? Did they have US weapons provided by the CIA - including US GPS guided mortars?

 

I doubt this committee with get to far down this specific path.

Is the Obama Adm afraid that it will be known to the American people that they were supplying weapons to known terrorist in Syria to fight Assad. The weapons were being smuggled from Libya to Syria.

 

If so the Adm would have to justify dealing and arming terrorist.

It is not just about finding all the details on the deaths of 4 Americans. It is to find out who is responsible for the failure to protect them, go to their aid and who lied to us and hold them accountable for their failures and lies.
