Good Luck to the Rams next season and to My Devils. It Should be an interesting season with new coaches at both schools. It will really be interesting for the Devils switching from run basically every time to a true run/pass mix.

Good luck to your devils. I do have to admit I am a little excited to see what offense Coach Maynard installs at Russell. I know it will be a culture shock to some, and a welcomed change to others.

As Ram mentioned there is mutual respect between Ashland and Raceland. Raceland has a solid program year in and year out.

 

I am not familiar with how many people Racelands stadium seats, but Putnam is a fairly large facility, that is about to get a little bigger. Between the short travel distance, large gate, and the mutual respect between the two schools it makes sense for Raceland to play at Ashland every year and get a nice check for doing so. I don't think the series being played in Ashland yearly is due to disrespect from Ashland. It just comes down to money.

JD , I agree with your comments and some of the connection between Ashland / Raceland that some ask why and do not realize are within the coaches, teachers and a principal through the years and was before the two started the series in the 80's. A few examples of this are/were (in no certain order)......1. Glen Reidel, former Ashland asst. coach - Raceland principal in the 70's. 2. Dan Kelly, Raceland asst. coach, teacher - Ashland teacher. 3. Randy Heaberlin, Former All State Football player at Raceland - Former asst. coach and still current teacher at Ashlsand. 4. Coach Bill Tom Ross, former Ashland asst. coach - Long time Raceland football head coach. 5. Raceland basketball coaches Danny Evans, coach Hall (can't think of first name) both had connections/ Ashland alums and Hall was an Ashland baseball coach as well. There are some others as well, these are the ones that came to mind........Just a few connections between the schools through the years.

Also as you said, I pull for Ashland in every game except one. :thumb:
