I can tell that from a ref's perspective it's simply not worth the money.

It depends on where it happened, the team (both mine & the opposing team) and quite frankly, the size of the player.

 

For what it's worth, there is a difference (in my opinion) between the take down in the video & getting punched in the mouth. The take down does not warrant a retaliatory punch.

Interesting. We obviously disagree. I'd argue that getting body slammed like that puts you at risk of a much more serious injury than the normal punch to the face.

Try to block it or dodge and trust that there are some responsible people in the area who will force a separation. Then continue playing while your opponent is ejected.

I was actually punched during a soccer game (some might call it a slap). I've never been punched in the face during a sporting event, but I've been intentionally hit in the family jewels and have certainly received several intentional elbows.

 

I've responded in many ways, some better than others. None of them included a retaliatory punch.

I have been punched, but not slammed like he was. I have never had someone continue to come after me.

 

From what I have seen, if you respond with violence it will only cause things to escalate, but if you can respond calmly without violence the conflict will often dissipate.
