BG Invitational (4-19-14)

Don't think it's statement by anything. Team Manimal played disinterested I believe people who saw them in Knoxville know what they have. On a side note I didn't like this event because the only reason Manimal went cause they were told it was closed for college coaches which was wrong.

Whoever told them coaches could be in the gym was blatantly wrong. Live period is next weekend. Most coaches know exactly when these live periods are. Can't think Manimal coach Maze didn't know that, or on the other hand would take his team to an event that would be situating an NCAA violation.

Manimal will bounce back.

To my knowledge, no such promises were made to any teams... Why does that even matter?

It matters, well, because the posters above said they only came to play because they were promised college coaches would be there for a closed door session. And, that when they realized this wasn't the case, Manimal played with a level of disinterest that apparently got them beat 3 times.

Also, began subbing 5 for 5, which is always a bad idea, of course because you lose game flow/rhythm. But, on a team of manimals caliber, I would think the talent level wouldn't differ that greatly.

Manimal will be just fine and there coach has done a great job every time I've seen them.

Did Ky Elite play the Travelers?

I wonder how Hoop Dreams 16s would have faired. They have some big names and talents.

Do you believe everything that you read?

What is the Travelers' 16U roster? Can't seem to find it anywhere.

Here's the roster:

Jimmy Greer

Markel McClendon

Keith Clemmons

Peyton Broughton

Kel Stotts

Dylan James

Damon Tobler

Ben Weyer

Bryson Asher

Peter Whitman

I believe McClendon and Weyer are the only two sophs. ..everyone else is a frosh.

Is Manimal's roster the same as last year? Anyone have that list?

Any info in Wolverines and Warriors?

Seeing a lot about the Travelers' two games. What were the rest of the results?

There is no excuse for looking Manimal got beat and that is that

Coach Sizemore told me there were 3 soph and 7 freshman I Believe greer is a soph and clemmons was replaced with Cole Von Handorf on the roster

No one isn't saying Manimal isn't a good team but if you beat there press its over for them the teams that beat them did that

Thanks.

The roster I got above was given to me on March 27th, so obviously some changes could've been made between then and now.

Good to hear CVH got added.

Help me understand - This event was put on to help teams get in some scrimmage games so they can get ready for the real AAU season. Don't understand why all the hating. All the negativity is focused on one coach and one program. From everything I am hearing, I was there, that all the other teams (KY Travelers, Kentucky Elite, KY Wolverines, KY Warriors, and Western Kentucky Elite) were gracious and thankful for the opportunity to play as well as to play against some of the best soph talent in the state. Those stressing over wins and losses are misguided as the key to any successful AAU program is how many kids that program sends to college. If rumor has it right which we all know how rumors are that this was a FREE event for all the teams so that perplexes me even more on the discontent. I take several things away from this event: Ky Travelers with a freshman loaded squad will be a hard out playing at the 16 level; Eli Wright is arguably the best sophomore in the state; and the 16 & U KY State AAU will be exciting to watch.

I was there, WKY Elite 15's struggled against the 16 teams they played but they'll be fine on the 15U level (25/44/32 was who I was most impressed with) I really really really like KY Elite, wright is the best Sophmore I've seen this year and eaves/sterns/hill all work well with him..I think if they had a top ntch PG they'd be tough to handle. Travelers played like a EYBL team (Weyer shined) and Ayers/ Sharpee led Manimal all day long..

KY Elite don't need another PG. They need another Big. They have also not figured out their best rotations chemistry wise. Travelers did play well, but more then just Weyer shined considering they were by far the best team there IMO.... Damon Tobler was virtually unstoppable at times and their guards proved very poised. Once they are at full strength, they will be hands downfavorite 16U in the State which says a lot considering they have 7 kids that are actually 15U.

True. Travelers have mostly freshman. But only one of them, CVH, is 15. The rest are closer to 17. So playing up, they're basically playing in their actual age group.
