Nate Verst throws No Hitter in 5 inning game.

Congrats to Nate last night he pitched a great game for the Mustangs. He is a fun kid to watch pitch and was on last night mixing up his pitches and working ahead in the count. He dominated the younger HC hitters.

HC is struggling right now with the loss of their starting CF and leadoff man Trevor Kincaid gone for the year and starting catcher Travis Webster who was out last night. Trevor Niehaus and Jared Seibert only kids in HCs lineup at the moment with any varsity experience.

Wow, I didn't realize they lost that many from last years team.

I always found it sad how Holmes and HC always seemed to struggle to get kids to go out for their teams. Holmes especially.

Add Newport High School to that list as well.

Of course the loss of Tiberi (Louisville) and Callery (Ohio Univ) was going to be tough. HC has lost a lot of good seniors (like all schools) going back the last couple years. This year has been coming as they are really in a rebuilding mode if there is such a thing at a small school. Losing their leadoff man and best outfielder in Kincaid in the 2nd game of the year was a huge blow. He was one of the returning leaders with Niehaus and Seibert. Hopefully they can get Webster back later this week.

True.

When you lose most of your Varsity Roster to graduation it is tough. Most all the schools go thru this. I believe the jump from freshman to JV is much smaller then from JV to Varsity. The Pitching and defense is so much better at the varsity level.

Congrats Nate!!! Great pitcher and even better young man.... this is kind of off topic, but could need little help. Where does Brossart play home games?? Don't recall seeing field on campus but haven't been out there in few years or so. Any info appreciated.

Home games are at St. Mary, 8246 E Main St, Alexandria, KY.

Several years ago, Bob Rowe/Matt Grosser/Ron Verst invested some time and money to improve the ballfield (infield grass, infield sprinklers, new dugouts, etc) at St. Mary. Considering what they had to work with, it's a nice field.

Who is catching now that Webster is out?

Webster played last night but was DH only.

Wirth (Sr) and Chaffin (Jr) have been splitting time catching - both with little varsity experience.
