16-1 run by Bowling Green during the second quarter turned a 17-14 Central lead into a 30-18 lead for the Purples. Game to my recollection was never closer than 9 again. That single run was basically (and literally I guess since it matched the margin) the difference in the game, rest was played even. Central did get within 9 late in the 4th, but missed shots and free throws by BG pushed it back again. Purples just took it to them tonight.

Bowling Green is certainly capable of winning the region, they proved that tonight. But don't despair about Warren Central just yet. In 2008-2010 it was the district runner-up in the 14th district that won the region, and two of those years they did it by beating the champion. It does happen. But this was a reminder that Bowling Green has the horses too. Both teams are responsible for one another's only losses in 4th region play.

And that year is the only year since 2001 that neither went.

During the key Bowling Green 16-1 run:

 

-Warren Central had 7 turnovers, went 0/3 from the field, and 1/2 from the FT line. They turned it over on their final four possessions of that run.

-Bowling Green turned it over just once - a charge - went 4/7 from the field including a three pointer, and went 7/8 from the line.

 

When you have possessions with turnovers (7) that nearly double the possessions that ended in a shot or trip to the line (4), that is a really, really poor stretch. There's too much time left in the game to place everything on that run, but basically, that was the point when Bowling Green took absolute control of the game, and they never remotely gave it back.
