Mustang Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Any details? The Brossart Lady Stangs traveled to Mount Sterling on Wednesday night to take on the three time repeat 10th Region Champion Montgomery County Indians, in what is to be the first of three consecutive games to close out the regular season, culminating with Senior Night on Friday. The Lady Stangs were without the services of their all-region senior center, Sarah Futscher, who is home recovering from a fever. Her teammates did an admirable job competing with the Lady Indians in her absence. Abby Stadtmiller, who would lead our gals in scoring with 18 points on the night, got the Stangs out of the gate running by scoring seven of our first 12 points, and cousin Morgan Verst was responsible for the other five as the greenclads led early 12-8. MoCo recovered to lead 17-14 after a period of play and 34-25 at intermission. However, Stats duplicated her early game efforts, knocked down a pair of threes and a two, triggering a Brossart rally that led to a tied game at 39-39 at the 2 minute mark of the third quarter, but again the Lady Indians were up to the task, and led 46-42 after three. The Stangs kept it close and were within one possession at 56-54 under a minute, but the home team hit their free-throws down the stretch and survived the Lady Stangs 60-54.
bigblueinsanity Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Hard to judge this game without Futcher. Girls 10th is wide open!
