I am say that there were more deserving kids out in the state. Look at all of the other All-State polls and you will see that there was only maybe 7 NKY athletes on those squads and there were way more spots. IMHO I would have chose Hayes at QB over both Sindelar and Barker, or maybe that kid that was the back-up QB for Collins. Now that kid is a hometown hero. I understand that I may have a slight WKY bias myself, but I follow HS football all over the state year round.

On film, I have seen him play 4 times and I watched 3 of his games online this year. I did not get to see him play in person (saving that for Saturdays this year). BTW, I am a Barker fan now. Go #7!!!!!

Personally I put more credit into BGP's team than most of those ALL State teams you talk about and I will tell you why.

 

This team the players had to be nominated along with what they did this year etc. (were the players you talk about even nominated?) and after that it isn't a popularity contest which the ones you talk about are most of the time. Instead there is a committee that goes over each and every nominated player and looks at their body of work compared to what the rest did etc. The ones you talk about are selected mostly by people who have never seen half the kids in the state yet they know who they should put on those teams while leaving off many more deserving players. Then you also have those that are simply made by fan voting which are nothing but a popularity contest.

 

There are only a couple all star teams I put a lot of credit into and those are the coaches all star teams such as the NKY All star teams that was voted in by the coaches, and the All State class teams made up by the coaches in their particular class. BGP is about the fairest way because it isn't a popularity contest as you tend to think.

Very well said, :thumb:. I value the bgp team more than others and you did a perfect job of explaining why. I know that besides one that I nominated was listed on the team I personally nominated a couple of players that I thought may qualify and were not on the final list/team. I do not question the bgp committees decision, BGP Team I any way.
