Campbell County 47 Scott 32 (37th District Frosh championship)

Featured Replies

Campbell County's length and size too much for Eagles in this one.

Camels' Robert Marlow shot lights out - five 3-pointers, ended up 19 points. Evan Zumwalde added 11, and Garren Bertsch 10.

Andrew DIxon led the Eagles with 12.

Campbell County advances to the 10th Region Freshmen Tournament Saturday morning at the Mason County FIeldhouse.

Scott defeated Brossart 55-46 in the 37th Dist semis, played at 6pm.

Scott had little rest, wheeling right back in the championship game.

Scott just looked slow, which I expected because of the fact that they just played a fast paced game against Brossart in the Semi's. Am not a fan of having the Semi-Finals and the Championship game in one night.

We (Brossart) were not either. Unfortunately, with weather cancellations backing up the lower bracket semi-finals from being played on their own night, which was what was supposed to happen on Tuesday and then Wednesday, we had no other choice but to play them both on the same night in order to meet the need to have our 37th District champ play at Mason County High School on Saturday morning.

It's not a perfect world, and it certainly hasn't been a perfect winter. Unfortuantely Freshmen take the brunt of playing games and in this case tournaments, where and when we can. Campbell County was indeed the beneficiary, sitting in the catbird seat, but it was the best that could be done under the circumstances. I still strongly believe that the best team won.

Incidentally, the 37th District JV tournament will be played on Saturday with Campbell County playing Calvary at 9am, Brossart taking on Scott at 10:30am, and the finals being played back at 1:30pm. Similar situation.

Scott gets to "double dip" and play in the NKY freshman tournament on Saturday anyhow. Play NCC at 5:45 at CovCath.

I believe they've played in that tournament since the 70's. I can't say that's "double dipping", but I see your point. Smart move to play in it, if you ask me.

Any chance you get your team to play is a smart move, especially at the younger levels.

I have no problem with them playing either. More games the better. Wish all the NKAC teams could play but there is a max # in the tournament. CovCath and local coaches do a great job with this.

Scott played a heck of a game against Brossart which probably tired them a bit going up against a tall Campbell County team. Wow! I guess last night was the first time I'd seen CC frosh this year. They have 2 kids that tower over everyone; maybe even the coach. Congrats to the Camels!

I've been watching Scott freshman teams for awhile now and I have to say that I think Steve Frommeyer does a great job over there.

I agree 100%, Steve gets his kids to play hard and never stops coaching not matter what the score is or the outcome of the game. He earns the kids respect and everyone of his kids don't want to let him down. He shows the kids love and discipline when needed. He could coach my kids anyday. Scott had a tall task last night playing back to back games and missing one of their better players and scorers. Congrats to the camels an good luck at Mason County. Had a nice chat with TAC and finally met Lawildcat. :thumb:

Good to meet you, I4C! I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of each other in the years ahead.
