What's everyone's take on this? Why can't we just have the officials assigned to each region officiate that regions tourney? We had a real debacle in the 7th region tourney last year.

I don't like it. From what I understand this idea was proposed because the referees in lexington did not want to officiate their own regional tournament because they did not want to upset any of the coaches in that particular region. I was told this a couple of years ago and if someone says I am wrong, then I very well may be wrong. But I think it stems from something that happened in lexington. But other people probably know more about it than I do. So if I am wrong, please do not act like I know nothing about high school sports (as some people often do when someone posts an inaccurate statement). This is just something that I heard.

I think if you asked 95% of the coaches in the 10th and 11th regions, they'd love to have the BBA officials stay home.

One official made a scene and a total fool of himself from what I heard. I wasn't there so I can't give full details.

Supposedly a Lexington ref slugged a Sacred Heart fan as he was leaving the arena after the fan accosted him in some fashion. Apparently, the whole crew who had that game lost control, threw out the Manual coach and then gave Manual every call afterward that totally influenced the outcome. My sister was at the gym to watch another game and stayed for that game. She swears she has never seen officials totally control the outcome of a game like that one. To me the game belongs in the hands of the players. I hate when officials think they are bigger than the game
