Wonder if they Anderson Co Away game may turn into a home game for GRC.

 

Anderson Co middle School team just posted on the list serve today that they had to move their jamboree to later in the year because of field conditions.

 

Can an Anderson County fan clarify the above information?

Collins' game vs. Anderson County is listed as a home game for Collins on their schedule. They played at Collins last year and should be at Anderson this year, so they may not be playing any home football games.

It could also be the beginning of a new contract. GRC played Scott County at home in the regular season the last 2 years. We also played Henry Clay and Montgomery County on the road the last 2 seasons.

Talked to one of my contacts last night. He said at the end of the season last year the field was a complete mess. It's a Bermuda field so the winter of course didn't do it any favors. He said he was on it last week and it was just horrible. With that said, he did not know and had not heard of the team not being able to use the field for games this fall...he also said if that turned out to be the case (not using the field) it wouldn't surprise him. He is trying to find some more info today what/if anything is certain. There has been nothing in the local paper and nothing on the school's website indicating any issues. My guess is the field will be used initially, and if it turns out it's unplayable/unsafe changes will be made then. I just can't fathom that they would not use the field without giving it a try first. There's also over a month before the first game, Aug 29th, so there is still time to work on the field. Both scrimmages they have scheduled are away, with GRC being their first scheduled home game the 29th.

As for moving the middle school event, I was told moving middle school and freshman, even jv games off the field is not unusual since they have 4 teams using the same field and it can get chewed up pretty quickly. If the field is in bad shape right now, seems to make sense to probably do that.

Makes sense to me.

The field looked fine at the end of the year last year. With it being Bermuda grass and Ky being on the northern edge of its tolerable climate, I wonder if the really big cold snap we had this year with below zero temps has hurt the grass this growing season?
