Their football schedule on the AC school website shows Collins as a home game...and since they played at Collins last year I would assume it should be played at AC this year. Now I'm not saying it's correct, but it is what's on the AC website.

The field looked fine at the end of the year last year. With it being Bermuda grass and Ky being on the northern edge of its tolerable climate, I wonder if the really big cold snap we had this year with below zero temps has hurt the grass this growing season?

 

Absolutely no doubt about the bolded part of your quote above...winter played havoc on many many Bermuda fields and golf courses alike, and some still haven't recovered and some won't recover without a lot of help.

 

As for the field being a mess at the end of the year last year, just relaying some info told to me last night by a former player, a senior on last years team. Said by the last home game last year the field was in very bad shape.

What amazes me, is over the last 6 years of traveling all around the state to HS fields is the clueless ness or lack of care of some Schools when it comes to their fields. First thing I would ask a School that had bermuda was "wheres your tarp?" First Response 80% of the time was, "What we need a tarp for?" Bermuda 101 is you have to tarp it in the winter or it could all die out if it gets cold. Hello it gets cold in KY.

 

 

The other 18% of schools said, yea, we cant afford a tarp. I can understand that response, but what are you paying to re sod your field, after you tried to seed and sprig it?

For the record, I am practically at Anderson Co HS field at least once in the month of October every year, their field is in bad shape every year.

 

 

Looks good in August, not so good in October.
