Quality Programs and Coaching Changes

Featured Replies

IDK if I can ever remember a year where more storied and/or possible big-time programs have changed coaches. My take on the biggest:

1. Highlands

2. Paducah Tilghman

3. LexCath

4. Russell

5. Tie Southwestern/Madison Central

I think Whitley and LCA are possibly really good jobs, too.

Lotta change.

Just my opinion...

1. Highlands- Will keep on keeping on, I don't expect much change in performance or results

2. Paducah Tilghman- So much turmoil out there, if a coach can stop the drama, watch out

3. LexCath- ??? No idea what to expect, but they have performed below their expectations last few years

4. Russell- Replacing a legend...got to give new coach the benefit of making program his own

5. Southwestern- Talent and numbers in the school, can new coach get them out for football and then coach them up?

5. Madison Central- Chuck Smith is a legend, but a lot of things have to be changed before the winning will come at the highest levels...but this is the man to make it happen...

Whitely- has proved they can play hard nosed football, hopefully new coach can get them over the hump.

LCA- Tough district, new coach has to get numbers and talent to the field

True... And now, I think Central Hardin is definitely a good job, as well.

How so? Highlands is 4A and played in every state championship since becoming a 4A school. Their opponent before the state final each year has been LexCath hasn't it? I think they have played to their expectations every year. What year were they expected to beat Highlands? Hell, this year they gave Highlands a scare AFTER the running clock was kicked on.

I'd also put LexCath above the Paducah Tilghman job.

I don't know... They have struggled to meet expectations lately, but, historically, Tilghman has been a really good program for a long time.

Honestly, though, this could be my old-fartish bias against the "newcomer" LexCath. lol

I'd only put Tilghman at #3 right behind LexCath. If anything the fact that Tilghman is a public school and it doesn't have to go through Highlands to make it to state may make it more attractive.

I don't disagree but they won a title and I think the folks at LexCath aren't happy finishing behind Highlands every year...

I don't see them saying "thank you may I have another" like in Animal House. I think any program that has recently won a title anything else is below what they are wanting.

But you could be right 3rd/4th in 4A may be the best they can hope for and all they are shooting for.

I just used the order from the first post

I'm sure they are shooting for higher just as Boyle County does.

Reality kicks in shortly after 8pm on Black Friday.

:lol2: yes it does!

Good thing Collins played them the next week :lol2:

If Larry French ends up at Southwestern where does Boyle County fall at on the list?
