Lot of talk about officiating. I have to admit that 8th Region officiating this season has somewhat inconsistent, especially at the beginning of the season. Traveling has been the most missed call that I have seen this season.

FBD, my following comment is not aimed at you. It's just a response I throw out when traveling calls come up. You may be 100% correct.

Most fans do not know what constitutes a travel. Most THINK they do not.

Again, see my first line before responding.

The best was the Phantom foul on Ison in the 2nd qtr. No where near the play. 22 committed the fould and ref gave it to 21!

She picks up her 2nd with that call. Those guys were bad all the way around!

Unfortunately, officials do get numbers mixed up occasionally. You'd be surprised at how many things are going through your mind from the time you whistle to the time you tell the table who the foul was on.

If it happens it's up to the coach to ask the official if he/she got the right number. So if I say it was 21 and then you as a coach say "are you sure it was 21? It was 22" I'll look back and see that 21 does not look like the player I called a foul on and , yes, it was 22 and make the change.

It's all good, I agree with you. Most of the walking violation no calls that I am referring to do not involve "to the basket moves" that most on here are talking about. 8th Region officials have not been very good this season at catching the traveling in situations where the player picks up dribble under pressure and shuffles feet/studder steps, etc.. stuff like that.

As a former coach, i screamed at referees all the time. Looking back on it, i was probably a little to harsh. :) It is easy to sit back and complain, but until you have actually tried to be a ref, you have no idea how HARD it is.

Good officials don't take your screaming personally (just like you shouldn't take a T personally). Officials "get it."

That one was a dandy, the officials even got together to talk it over and they still got the number wrong. Ison wasn't near the play yet got called. It was an overall bad night for the officials and that was really the only game this year they stood out being that bad. Overall this year I thought the officiating had been better than last year especially with the rule changes for fouls.

It's been a while since we've heard from you. I thought the maniac may have been committed. :)
