Final from Walton Boone County 59 Walton Verona 55. The Lady Rebels did not play a very good game overall with the aid of the worst trio of refs I have seen this year. Walton Verona is a scrapy team and I give them credit for battling the entire game.

I was just going to comment on the officiating also. The worst I've seen in a long long time. I can't even keep track of how many 3, or even 4 step traveling calls weren't called. It was beyond ridiculous and Boone was fortunate to get out with the win.

 

Very sad to have a game like that but glad Boone came out with the W.

Seriously, three and four steps? You really think that referees let players take even up to four steps with no call? Honestly, that sounds like an exaggeration.

 

Why would you need to use the "ref excuse" anyway?

The referring was bad both ways. Walton-Verona had a lot more to do with the way Boone played then the refs.

 

I thought Boone had a pretty scrappy team as well.

Hellbird is not stretching the truth at all. If a girl that is 5' 7" or smaller stwrts at the top of the key, picks up her dribble at the foul line and makes a lay up the only way to do is to take at least three steps. My daughter is 5'-6" and can't make it in two steps it take her three steps to do it and she a pretty athletic kid.

Boone didn't play well and Walton played as bout as well as they could. The officiating wasn't a factor in this game.

The team I was there to see won, no excuse needed and the officiating was bad both ways but there was one player who everytime she drive to the basket picked her dribble up at the top of the key for her layups. Over and over again it was ignored.

 

Sorry no excuse at all. Just because the officiating was horrible doesn't mean it's an excuse, it simply means the officiating was horrible.

No not at all. Walton played very good to keep it close, theyhit key 3's when needed and actually they were leading I believe at half by a point. The officiating was just very very bad. I've watched a lot of high school bball in my time and it is very odd (especially in the girls game for some reason) to never have a traveling called, and I don't think WV had a single travel call last night when some were very obvious.

 

The post were more about the bad officiating than the game itself which is always sad when the officials become the topic instead of the play on the court.

 

As far as the game goes, #21 for WV really impressed me with her outside shooting for being their underneath power. I liked her a lot. As far as Boone, Switzer may have had one of her guttiest games all year, she was outstanding. Ford also played a very gutsy game for Boone.

#21 is Haleigh Ison for Walton. She is a Soph. Nice player! Both teams played hard.

Congrats to Coach Fookes and the Rebels. Also, congrats to Coach Clink and his team on a good showing against a good team. Sounds like the game could have went either way.

I don't think they went both ways, I think Boone was called for 4 traveling calls and WV called for 0

 

I could be wrong, I just thought it wasn't very well officiated game bad fouls and non fouls on both teams etc. But the non traveling calls is what stuck out the most to me.

Lot of talk about officiating. I have to admit that 8th Region officiating this season has somewhat inconsistent, especially at the beginning of the season. Traveling has been the most missed call that I have seen this season.

The best was the Phantom foul on Ison in the 2nd qtr. No where near the play. 22 committed the fould and ref gave it to 21!

She picks up her 2nd with that call. Those guys were bad all the way around!
