January 8, 201412 yr I would have taken the 2 best teams after the bowl season and had them square off in the championship. I liked the Plus 1 idea, I really thought that is what would happen instead of a 4 team playoff. Is the old '+1' concept what Loggy is talking about...just do the regular bowls but then take #1 and #2 in the ranking and play them? I thought it was what the new set up is - take #1 - #4 and ensure they play in the 'play in' bowls to then get to the +1. Or was that not how the original +1 was to work. This is why I thought this new playoff was just the +1 renamed.

Knock the regular season back to 11 games(my first choice) or eliminate the conference championship games and I would say that is the best plan available.

But even then all you would for sure eliminate would be Big 10 or PAC 10 winner in the Rose Would still have ACC, SEC and Big 12 Champs playing in 3 different bowls and all could have similar records after Bowls how would you pick 2 to play in the finals. Old Bowl Affiliations while traditional and what we all grew up with needed to go away for the best of the best to be determined.

I just really enjoyed those great bowl games in the early 70s and hate to see those days come to an end. Good or bad....the two days of watching great bowl games with my dad seemed bigger/more significant than who was voted #1 on January 2nd.
