It's been a while, but it appears that the 12th Region has re-emerged as a force to be reckoned with this season. As of this morning's Cantrell Ratings (Lexington Herald-Leader) four 12th Region teams are ranked in the top 24.

 

14th - Wayne County

16th - Southwestern

19th - Lincoln County

24th - West Jessamine

 

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out as each of these teams plays top 25 opponents. Hopefully they'll be able to continue to uphold & strengthen the 12th's rankings.

The 12tu is definitely playing some good ball right now. Lots of quality wins in the past couple of weeks.

I don't pay attention to the Cantrall rankings but the 12th Region is certainly going to be a tough ticket to Rupp this season. That should be a very competitive region tournament.

If you do the math on the power rankings, looking at the top 5 and the top 10 teams - either way - the 12th comes out as the 5th strongest region (per the power rankings). The 7th region barely edges out the 6th for the toughest. Then there's some distance to get to third strongest and that's the 11th region. Then the 9th and 12th regions are a very close 4th/5th. After that, there's a significant drop to get to the 6th toughest region which shakes out to be the 8th.
