Williamsburg 34 Raceland 7

Wow !! Great game for the Jackets. Was expecting a much closer game.

Congrats Raceland to a fantastic season. Also congrats to Williamsburg. Way to prove all of the doubters wrong. I pegged you going to the state to begin the season and folks said no way. Well guess what? Yes way.

1st of all, congrats to the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets on the win :thumb:. You have a very good football team, out played Raceland tonight and deserve the win. Good luck in the finals.

Williamsburg was without one of its best players (Skyler Griffith) after about six minutes into the game, but still managed to overcome the injury and win. Congrats to coach Herron and his coaching staff and players.

As for the game....Williamsburg jumped out with 2 td's in the 1st 6 minutes of the game. Raceland's coaches made adjustments on D and slowed the Jackets down, stopping them on the next 6 consecutive drives. Raceland scored and went to half down 14-7.

2nd half showed a couple of Raceland turnovers that the Jackets capitalized on and Raceland couldn't dig out.

Credit goes to the Williamsburg players and coaches, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

It's hard for me right now to come up with much, I am very disappointed in tonight's loss yet I am so very proud of this Raceland Rams football team.

This team made it further in the 1A playoffs than any other Raceland team has along with winning the schools first Regional Championship. All Raceland fans are proud of this team. I can and will say with extreme confidence that this group of players worked hard, did everything ask of them and then a lot more. Raceland coaches, School Administrators, Teachers and Boosters do things the right way and it shows not only on the field but in the hallways at school, in the classroom, around the communities, in the churches of Raceland/Worthington and the area. :thumb:

Williamsburg's defensive line, especially Helton and Wilson, have been really hard for teams to handle this year.

Really SUPRISED at this score. Congrats to both teams, and especially the Rams and their great season.

This game was the first game all Season that Raceland O or D line were challenged at all Raceland absolutely dominated the line on both sides of the football all season until this game. Kudos to the W-burg line.

With the long trip it will probably be later today before Ram, Doc and others get back. I will be interested to get their comments on this one. I do know that sidelinedoc was pretty upset with the authorities at Williamsburg in that Raceland's coaches were kept away, were not allowed on the press box and/or above to where they get the above ground sight to make calls, send info to coach Maynard. I haven't ever heard of anything like this anywhere else that Raceland has played. All schools provide opposing staff's a vantage point if their own coaches have that advantage. I may be wrong but that is the info that I got on the update thread. I don't know what the khsaa laws are or even if there are any on a situation like this. Seems to me that if one coaching staff has this opportunity the opponent should be provided the same but as I said, I am not sure.

Congratulations to Williamsburg! Impressive win for sure. I don't think anyone expected this margin of victory, including Les.

First and foremost, Williamsburg played an excellent game!! To me, it was a tale of two halves for Raceland. That's all I will say at this point, otherwise I will make the others angry at me.

Go ahead and give your opinion, unless you attack me personally I or anyone else couldn't get mad. That's what these threads are about...opinions. I or others may disagree but just speaking for myself it's like I said to start, unless you get personal. I'll check later today. Going to attempt to sleep tonight. lol

Congrats to Williamsburg on the win. Raceland Rams you have nothing to hang your head down about. A great season and some great events this year at Raceland. First ever Regional Championship, 500th win for the school and several players made the all Eastern Ky High School Football awards that I read. Pretty good season if you asked me. Congrats again to both teams for making it this far. JD
