I think we are just going to have agree to disagree. He gives a calming presence because he can't beat people off the dribble. His calming presence is because he can simply swing the ball around the perimeter. Watching the games, I certainly don't have a calm feeling with Hood is on offense, or defense for that matter.

 

Who besides Hawkins would you suggest he steals some minutes from? And I only mention Hawkins because you mentioned him before. I personally would rather see Hawkins earning the meaningful minutes because he's going to provide more for this team long term (not necessarily even referring to this year) than Hood. You aren't going to want Hood to steal minutes from Randle, Young, Twins, or our bigs.

 

I certainly appreciate and applaud the kid's hard work and mentality, he's just not good enough to play above the majority of the guys on the roster.

Hawkins is the only one, and again just in situation where Hawkins and Andrew are in at the same time. Andrew can score so that isn't all that bad, but he still runs point when this happens and it pushes Hawkins to the 2, in this instance I would rather see Hoody out there.

 

 

At least to see what he can do. That's kind of my argument, I'm not really sure what he can do because we haven't seen it. I'm just asking for an opportunity to see what he can do with some of the rotation players and not playing beside of Polson, Malone, and Long. Yeah I get what you're saying. With that I'll just respond that "In Cal I Trust" and after all these years that he has Hood, he probably knows what he does and doesn't have in him, which is why we don't see him in the game when it matters.

 

It's in that tough area where he is better than the Malone and Long's of the world, but he's not of the caliber of the top 7-8 guys on this years team (or just about all of Calipari's teams).

Hood, Polson, Lanter, Malone, Long, etc. need to stay as far away from seeing minutes as possible.

I think it is relative. While that team looked good early, Teague was a turnover machine that could not lead the offense and Davis had yet to fully gel in to a force. He got pushed around and was relying solely on his physical ability. However, they had Lamb, Jones, and Miller to settle ship and keep things rolling. This year's squad has WCS and Poythress. Meh.

 

Thats the thing Lamb, Jones, and Miller were leaps and bounds ahead of WCS, and Pothress. Which is why the chemistry was better from the start. This team is winning on pure talent alone, and not much chemistry right now. As evident by the transition points given up to MSU because of not knowing how to play hard and get back on defense, not being able to stay in front of players, and the turnovers. That Davis team had the chemistry part and defensive part down almost right away, which IMO shows how as a team they were much further ahead than this team.
