Breathitt County had it 4 & 1 inside the redzone with 54 seconds left, Breathitt County's running back goes to cut, when he does, he loses his footing a little bit but it allows the Pike Central defenders to tackle him before getting the first down, thus making Breathitt turn it over on downs and Pike Central kneeling it down.

If the Breathitt running back, don't slip and gets up in the hole, he has the first down and probably a little more.

I don't get this at all, once Pike Central took over on downs their at the end of the game, they kneeled it down once, then took a timeout, then kneeled it down again to run the rest of the clock out.

If that wasn't Pike Central's timeout then the ref's gave Breathitt County a 4th one

According to the KHSAA Rules/Bylaws, Pike Central Coach, John Chapman will have to sit out the next 3 games following his ejection during tonight's game.

So if he has to sit out the next three games, if Belfry beats Pike Central next week, does he have to sit out the other two games at the beginning of next season?

I think so. I remember several years back a Garrard coach was tossed in a playoff game we lost and he was to sit out the next year's opener. He appealed to the KHSAA (his ejection was highly questionable) and they didn't force him to sit a game. The rules seem a little tighter now so I'm guessing Chapman probably will have to serve his whole sentence.

Hasn't Chapman showed enough classless acts to be removed at PCC....administration couldn't be very pleased with this...could they?

Just taking up for his players on the roughing the passer call. Isn't that what coaches are suppose to do other than call plays?

I honestly think he's doing a fine job at Pike Central, got them to their second ever regional championship. If he leaves this year, it's on his own.

I wasn't there so I don't know how it happened or how bad it was but according to the radio announcers, the Pike Central defender hit the Breathitt QB up high and drove him into the ground.

Arguing a call and getting an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty is one thing...getting yourself tossed from being able to coach the remainder of the game and post season is a whole 'nother animal.

Chapman is a fiery guy. Over his tenure though that fire has clearly had instances where it bordered on being classless at best. There is no denying he has brought PC to new heights as a coach and knows what it takes to win football games... but at the same time his tenure has been dominated by a KHSAA investigation, immature tactics, and by and large an inability to make a deep playoff run except when Belfry and Breathitt were very down.

I agree, arguing a call and unsportsman like are two totally different things but he was doing his job, most coaches do argue calls but they don't get that heated. I don't think it was bad, I believe those refs weren't taking any backtalk. Refs from other regions are like that, they won't tolerate it for long before your getting flagged. The radio announcers weren't very fond of the ref's either.

I'd say you and Nikeman know more about that area then I do, I have no idea what he's done but he has gotten Pike Central to their second ever regional championship game and a first ever playoff victory over Breathitt County. If he's doing something he's not suppose to then yeah I can see getting rid of him but if he's not then he's doing what he's suppose to do.

Chapman's tenure has had several black eye moments:

- Upon being hired he basically makes the comment that he was brought there to defeat Belfry... he has yet to do that

- In 2009, against the weakest Belfry team of the past decade, Chapman had his team in prime position to pull off a shocker at home. Belfry made an adjustment and used the Wildcat to come back as Pike Central could not score. At a critical junction of the comeback Chapman has a similar meltdown at a call that results in I believe 2 critical 15 yard penalties that extended a Belfry drive and resulted with a key Touchdown.

- Chapman's most talented team in school history is led by a pair of Breathitt transfers and a QB transfer from Perry Central. The home grown back-up QB is replaced by the transfer and quits the team. Soon a complaint by the replaced QB's family to the KHSAA results in an investigation by the KHSAA and the Hawks receive sanctions.

- After the sanctions and an inability to advance deep in the playoffs one of those Breathitt players transfers back to Breathitt for his Senior Season. Pike Central receives a QB transfer from Powell County who then opts to transfer to Breathitt as well.

- In 2011 Belfry's Phillip Haywood has the chance to set the All-Time wins record in a game at Buckley's Creek. In a game marred by an injury to Belfry's Justin Johnson where he was literally concussed from a punch on the ground that the refs missed... it is a close game at the Half.. in the Second Half Belfry turns it on and crushes PC. On such a monumental night where there is Statewide Media coverage for perhaps the most well respected Head Coach in the State.. Chapman storms off the field and refuses to shake hands. he also has a verbal altercation on the sideline with fans.

- 2012 he takes his heavy underdog Pike Central team to Breathitt in Round 2 to play the undefeated Bobcats. Everyone is anticipating a Hawks loss and a much awaited re-match between Belfry and Breathitt. PC, who has almost exclusively ran out of the spread in Chapman's tenure, opts to run the flexbone (Belfry's offense the majority of the game versuses Breathitt. The same game there is a fight that breaks out that becomes a hot topic on the message boards.

- 2013 in addition to blowing a 3 TD lead against Belfry.. we have Friday's issue.

This is all on top of additional issues of questionable scheduling, running up the score, stat padding, and so forth.

I didn't know all that had been going on but I'm not familiar with that area other than it's in the mountains.

I heard that he actually was hit (literally) with the first flag which resulted in him getting tossed. Not sure if this is fact but I heard this from someone that was at the game. IF this is true, what high school football coach would not be tossed? I am not sure I can name many.
