Am I reading the KHSAA's statistical leaders page right in seeing he's averaging over 9 yards per carry?

 

Right now, he's listed as having 1,789 yards on 184 carries with 21 touchdowns through 6 games. That's an average of 256 yards per game.

 

Does anyone have any more information on this kid?

The kid can play. Not the fastest, but he has good size, and never goes down on the first contact.

This kid is very good if they had a better scheme and defense he would have even more. He had a ton of carries this year and took some shots I hope they rest him some through the week!

Weird. No offense meant, but I didn't expect that one at all. Their basketball teams were usually finesse and they just repeated as State Champ in Boy's Golf. Not really the type of school you'd guess had a smash-mouth football team.

I think Devin is the smash part, the lines are nice sized but dont really dominate you like you would expect with the yardage they put up, also they are soft on defense. I am not knocking the team, just making you understand how good I think Devin is as a Running back.....If that makes sense.

Anderson county held him to 84 yds or so last week. Anderson's Ross Cox had him in his sights most of the night. Cox is a nice player you hear nothing about.

Being "held" to 84 yards when it's a rank opponents primary objective to stop you (and probably only you) is still quite an accomplishment.

He is a very, very good high school running back. unfortunately for him they have little to zero other weapons. From what I heard he has some D2 offers.

Nice. D2 is nothing to scoff at. What schools are involved?

The kid is a great high school back with a big up side at next level. Just turned 17 three weeks ago. If not mistaken, this is the first game in two years under 100 yards. Scheme is very Stanfird/Wisconsin like. He's dropped his 40 time to a 4.6 range and I heard it was 4.6 flat. He's almost 6' and is close to 220. His dad had an after high school growth spurt and I think Devin will too. Never down on first hit, he has a nice lean and good vision. He knows how to follow and set up blockers. He's also a team first kind of kid. As a former coach of his, I am biased, but I love the kid!
