Decent crowd?

From Brossart yes. Highlands not so much. Pretty good atmosphere for Brossart senior night.

Decent crowd?

Senior night for Brossart. Very nice home crowd.

Brossart must not be as good as people thought with the two losses in two nights. I don't know if its a good idea to schedule HHS for senior night. I was thinking how good the district tournaments would have been with the old alignment of HHS, BB, NCC and CC. The girls side would have been the group of death in the state. Oh well good luck to everyone in the regionals.

Mustangs drop two local NKAC Division II games in back to back nights after playing five games in five days and winning the "A" State Championship on Sunday.

A goal by Devin DuPont at the 28:37 mark of the second period was the equalizer, while what I'm told is known as an "Own Goal" (an unintentional carom off of a defensive player into the net), is what resulted in the game-winner, effectively spoiling Brossart's Senior night.

Brossart's lone goal came in the opening minutes of the game at the 34:51 mark of the first period on a goal by Dutch Graus on an assist from Eli Nienaber.

Mustangs will welcome a 10 day respite before finishing off the regular season (at Russell on October 12th) and heading into the post-season. Highlands' size gave the Mustangs problems tonight.

Highlands certainly played well and are deserving winners.

Mustangs fall to 14-3 while Highlands improves to 11-5-2.

The Highlands Bluebirds boys soccer team pulled off a huge victory Wednesday.

Highlands edged a former district rival in the Bishop Brossart Mustangs, 2-1 to move to 11-5-1 on the year. The Bluebirds have won three in a row and 10 of their last 13 contests.

Devin Dupont scored the lone goal for Highlands on five shots on goal. The other Bluebird goal came on a Bishop Brossart own goal.

Nick Breslin made 10 saves in net for Highlands. The Mustangs took 11 shots on goal.

The Mustangs (14-3) won the All “A” State Tournament in Elizabethtown over the weekend. But they’ve lost both games since beating Kentucky Country Day, 3-0 Sunday for the crown. St. Henry beat Bishop Brossart by the same score Tuesday.

Highlands concludes a run of three games in three days with a game against Cincinnati LaSalle tonight. Game time is 8 p.m. at Tower Park.
