October 2, 201313 yr Is there anything short of completely scrapping AHCA, that anyone here blaming President Obama solely would feel is a satisfactory compromise? And what have Republicans offered as an alternative? I (personally) would like President Obama to reexamine the medical device tax. But everything else should continue as planned, in my opinion. I feel that someone should propose that the medical device tax be revised to tax profits, not gross sales. I don't think that allowing the government to reach it's current state is a wise idea from anyone. But I don't want a repeal of AHCA at all....
October 2, 201313 yr And Obama wants the Republicans significantly damaged and wants things his way only. No compromise being offered from the majority of them including Obama. What would constitute an acceptable compromise in your view?
October 2, 201313 yr And Obama wants the Republicans significantly damaged and wants things his way only. No compromise being offered from the majority of them including Obama. Again, what's the compromise? Republicans wanted something very big and they tied it to the funding of the government. What do Democrats/Obama gain from giving in on Obamacare?
October 2, 201313 yr Come on - the compromise is the delay of the individual mandate - just like the corporate mandate. Actually, the later action was done outside the law and an edict to delay the individual mandate would be equally outside 'the law'. But since the law and Constitution seem to be old concepts you can just keep going with ignoring them at this point. But the Dems need individual mandate to get to single payer. So they will not even do a delay. A delay of one year would allow this machine to rust over for another year likely undoing the parts that get to single payer. This is all about getting to single payer.

October 2, 201313 yr What would constitute an acceptable compromise in your view?A delay for one. Ending the exemptions from Obamacare regulations that were granted by Obama to his aides and to Hill staffers would be good. If it's fair to delay or exempt for them and the unions, hey, it's fair to delay or exempt for everyone.
October 2, 201313 yr Come on - the compromise is the delay of the individual mandate - just like the corporate mandate. How is that a compromise? It's just a less extreme, but still drastic demand. What would Democrats or Obama get out of conceding to that?
October 2, 201313 yr Hey, I'm no Obama fan. I, however, don't see anyway that he could have done this, short of repealing his baby. Everyone knows that he wouldn't do that, and it was too much to ask. I think that Obama has been poor as a leader. I wouldn't want him to run my company. Unfortunately he's the leader of our Country. However, this, this shut down. This is down right illegal, and I'm placing blame on the Republican leaders. What is illegal?
October 2, 201313 yr Republicans want Obamacare done away with or significantly damaged in exchange for funding the government. What do Democrats/Obama gain from agreeing to that? What is the compromise being offered here? A chance to fix a bad law that was rushed thru to get passed to start.
October 2, 201313 yr How is that a compromise? It's just a less extreme, but still drastic demand. What would Democrats or Obama get out of conceding to that? Delaying the mandate like they did for corporations allows time to fix the obvious holes.
October 2, 201313 yr Everyone knew Obama was going to reform health care, he was elected. The healthcare reform was held constitution by the highest Court of the land; with a conservate justice being the DECIDING vote. He was reelected after everyone knew the healthcare would be in place. Yet, the Republicans STILL cannot accept defeat!

October 2, 201313 yr A little problem of the House still being in control of republicans who ran on the platform of ending obamacare. Easy to ignore that I guess. I'm just using common sense. Three chances for this law to be thrown out. Three swings, three misses. No need to stand and argue with the umpire. Accept it for what it is, next election put someone in the presidency, someone who can actually get the votes, and have them eliminate/overhaul it.

October 3, 201313 yr Author How is that a compromise? It's just a less extreme, but still drastic demand. What would Democrats or Obama get out of conceding to that? They get to keep the rest of it, and the government gets funded. But, what happened to the spending cuts that were agreed and postponed last year....are those swept under the rug now and the only issue is Obamacare...I think not, it is just the rallying point of the dems. to hide the rest of the irresponsibility of the budget.
