I'm getting mixed messages on this thread.

I was on warfarin for about two years. It's the active ingredient in D-Con. The stuff can kill you like a rat (internal bleeding) if you take too much.

 

In any event, it seems that the prevailing theme of this thread is that health-care costs should not be part of unfettered free-market capitalism. Is that a fair assessment?

 

The problem to me is there was to much government control even prior to Obamacare. The problem isn't the free market the problem is there is no free market in health care and as far as I've been alive its never existed in this industry.

I love it when you boys pile on. Nobody's mentioned the obvious yet. If you are peeved at high health-care costs, go to Belgium or Singapore to get your gall bladder removed. You do have options. Remember, the primary function of Humana et al. is to make money for shareholders, not to settle claims.

I don't fault private companies wanting to make money. Don't think you will ever read a post of mine stating that . I have a problem with government getting in the way and creating inefficiencies through beaucracy and laws that do not allow for competitive pricing. That isn't putting it all on the federal government , state governments also deserve blame . If you took my posts or a few other posts by other people as complaints of companies making profit well I stand by my reading comprehension comment.
