Highlands 42 Lexington Catholic 19 (JV)

Final from Fort Thomas.

Highlands dominated from start to finish.

LexCath only brought 30-32 players and could not keep up with the numbers.

Nick Kendall had 5 rushing TD's. Saw some really nice throws and catches. QB Austin Hergott keeps getting better each week. He had really nice scrambles and runs. Lowered the shoulder a couple times for some big blows to get some extra yardage on scrambles. Not sure if that's real smart but he is a big physical boy so I'm guessing he can handle it. The defense I thought played very well. They seemed to fly to the ball. JV ball is the supporting cast for the Varsity and they have some really nice players waiting for their turn.

I must say it was fun watching the birds tonight, especially Nick Kendell. Kid just seems to find seams even when the hole is closed. Give just a little daylight and it's off to the races. Austin H seems to be doing better spreading the ball around but still likes the deep ball. Kid has an awesome arm but sometimes the 20 yard catch and run pass might be a higher percentage ball. Linebackers can't cover WRs which seems to be there with five wides quite a bit. Really good poise on the 3rd and 11 from their own 18 inch line to find Cain for a 25 yd pick up. I think Cain had his first two catches of the season which was nice to see. Defense did well against a Lex Cath QB with some nice legs. Kid was pretty fast and like Kendell was tough to catch once in the open.

Heard the young Knights did well. No surprise in results. Can only get better by playing to top programs at this level.
