Sat. night Marty B said this about Joey Votto....

Featured Replies

Doing my best to remember the exact quote during the Reds broadcast but Marty said something like this after Votto batted....

"Somehow, sometime, someone is going to have to explain exactly what the heck is going on with Joey Votto....... I mean I don't know why its such a sacred subject that no one will talk about it......"

Then on the opposite side Sunday morning on WLW Ken Broo and a writer from The Sporting News declared that Votto is certainly one of the Top 10 players in MLB.....

So how can they be on such opposite sides?

Joey Votto is a mental headcase, he has severe mental issues that need to be address in the offseason.

Marty B is the biggest Reds hater out there!! Listen to how excited he gets when the other team makes a big play and compare it to how he reacts when the Reds make a big play.

I think he's not scared to call it like it is.

What in the world do you base that on?

Marty has gotten worse as the years go on. There's "telling it like it is" and then there's "crotchety."

What in the world do you base that on?

All of his mental blunders on the field, number of outs, base running, watch his at bats and some of the pitches he swings. He is mentally out of it in more games than he is in it. A few years ago he had these same mental issue and they were not corrected then, and they have continued to get worse.

So "distracted" would be a "mental issue?" That term usually means something actually wrong with your brain or personality.

Asking why Votto is a sacred subject is considered crotchety? Guess I need to redefine crotchety in my own personal dictionary

No. I wasn't referring to that particular quote. I'm saying in general he is becoming that way. It's almost like he's offended personally when a player makes a blunder.

10-4. Cause I think that's a very fair question.

It's a fair question but maybe it's just the way the cat is. He's different.

No doubt about it.

Mental issues is what I believe he has, sugar coat it however you want. He is a professional athlete, he should not be getting distracted, but beyond that, it's the way he has played, those little ques that he lets off. There are times when he strikes out, not swinging, and honestly by his reaction, its as if he never saw the pitch thrown, not here, not with it, mentally gone, lost, in his own little world. He is a head case, been one for a while. For 25 million a year, dude needs to get his own shrink and have him never leave his side.

I'm sugarcoating nothing.

He "should not be distracted?" Why? Are professional athletes supposed to be robots?

Would you feel better if after taking strike 3 he broke the bat over his knee? Doesn't change anything.

Just because he doesn't fit a stereotype or because he's atypical doesn't mean he has "mental issues."
