Gallatin County 2013/2014

Featured Replies

Basketball season for 2013/2014 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Gallatin County? Remember, please be constructive.

Gallatin will return 4 starters from last years team that went 27-6, won the 8th Region All A, advanced to All A State Final Four, and won the 31st District before a disappointing loss in the 1st round of the 8th Region Tournament. Gallatin will probably be considered the favorite to repeat as 8th Region All A champs, and 31st District champs. Size and depth will be a concern as usual, but they will make up for that in other areas, as Coach Roberts will have her team playing hard every night to combat lack of size and depth. Guard play will be as good as anyone in the 8th Region.

Gallatin should have another good season. They will be one of the top teams in the 8th. They will go as far as the Dossett's will take them. I look for a big year from both of them.

This team will be good!

I think the 8th Region All A is theirs to lose. They won it last year and have more players than anyone else returning. They should be fun to watch.

To be fair, last years 8th Region All A Runner-up, Trimble County, return 6 of their top 7, including their best player. They will be a tough out for sure. Walton Verona will be young and extremely inexperienced, but they could also make a run at the 8th Region All A.

If my sources are correct, WV only returns one starter from last season and has lost a ton of talent over the past 2 years.

Gallatin fans should definitely be looking forward to a great year. Both Dossett's are back, a year older and more experienced. (That thought is scary) Additionally, I look for Sophomore Autumn Bowen, to have a break out season. She already has a ton of varsity experience from the last two seasons and should be ready to step up even more. Those will be complimented by a couple of other younger players who played well last year when called upon to step in and fill spots left open from late season injuries.

As far as their place in the 8th region, I would preseason rank Gallatin 3rd behind Anderson and SK. Unfortunately, with Anderson and SK both being very strong this year, it will not be an easy path for Gallatin to win the 8th come tournament time, however I think they could make a strong run at it, especially if they get a favorable regional tournament draw. As far as the 8th All A, they are definitely the clear favorite to win and go back to Frankfort.

I agree.

Gallatin will be good this year but lost a good one in Hignite. I would rank them anywhere between 3-5 because SK and Anderson will be the two big favorites in the 8th. But I also believe Gallatin will be the heavy favorite in the 8th All A.

Correct. I believe they return 2-3 players with significant varsity experience....Mullikin, Ison, and Mills. But, they do have a solid sophomore class ready to fill the roles needed. Coach Clinkenbeard does a great job of preparing his team and getting them to buy in.

Mikkah will be sorely missed! Good player, and even better teammate.
