August 14, 201313 yr Seriously, I wonder why they haven't been? Especially now that they won the title & with the arena. I'm a bit dumbfounded by that. Seems like an ideal thing to me. The Yum! would be a great place for Game Day. I have no idea why they wouldn't come.
August 14, 201313 yr Nah, but I do think Digger Phelps doesn't want half-finished flasks of Early Times hurled at him for 90 minutes. I'm giving Digger partial credit for the title. :lol2:
August 14, 201313 yr Author I understood it when the games were at Freedom Hall. NOBODY wanted to deal with getting in and out of the Fair and Expo center twice in a day. I definitely wouldn't have gone. But now that they're downtown, I'd absolutely go and spend the whole day in the vicinity of Second and Main getting rowdy. The Yum! would be a great place for Game Day. I have no idea why they wouldn't come. I would think this is the perfect year for it (not counting the year Yum opened). Defending champs, great arena, & probably some really good home games. I don't understand it.
August 14, 201313 yr I'm giving Digger partial credit for the title. :lol2: Seriously... how did he pick against us in EVERY SINGLE GAME? This is part joking, part serious... is he the reason Gameday isn't ever in Louisville? Does he not want to come here because he knows he'll get booed relentlessly? I can't imagine he really cares about that...
August 14, 201313 yr Seriously... how did he pick against us in EVERY SINGLE GAME? This is part joking, part serious... is he the reason Gameday isn't ever in Louisville? As to the first post, I can only assume he was trying to go against the grain, so he could say "I told you so," if one of those teams beat us. To the second, I would like to think that he doesn't have that kinda pull with where Game Day goes. If he does, I'd say he's absolutely the reason.

He's come to Lexington a couple of times, I believe. I thought Yum itself would draw Gameday. Evidently it wasn't enough, but for the life of me, I don't understand why they leave UL off this season. Don't get me wrong...I still hate Louisville...but I think if I'm an ESPN decision-maker, I want to be in Louisville this year.
August 14, 201313 yr Don't get me wrong...I still hate Louisville... Totally cool, we definitely still hate you back.

Don't get me wrong...I still hate Louisville...but I think if I'm an ESPN decision-maker, I want to be in Louisville this year. New league. I think if they were in the ACC this year, or still in the old Big East, they'd probably have it, or at least have a far better chance at getting it. Hard to market and sell a rivalry between Louisville/Cincinnati or Louisville/Memphis to national audience and expect to pull a huge rating that would maximize ad sales because of the proximity of the regions and size of the markets. Also, things like this are probably planned out well in advance, and the shift to a new (very temporary) conference, lining up game contracts, etc. could have just been too much to overcome this year. I think everyone would agree that most intriguing game for a Gameday environment in an unrestricted world would be UK. The problem with that is that the game is traditionally and/or obligated to be: a.) owned by another network, b.) on a day that would just not accommodate the schedule every year based on it's current rotation/configuration as it currently stands, and c.) in Lexington this year. Can't find a schedule for Louisville's upcoming year, but I'd think that based on tradition, etc. the only game besides UK that would just be watched everywhere would be Louisville-Indiana. Otherwise, UConn and Syracuse might be appealing since the East Coast markets would offset the smaller number of viewers in our region. MAYBE if they played a good Notre Dame team or SMU with the Larry Brown story in a week that ESPN felt "needed" a marquee game it would work, but that's not really a slam-dunk like the top two or traditional rivalries from the Northeast.
August 18, 201313 yr That Cuse/Duke game is already predicted to be the highest attended game of all time. The Dukies got 2 primetimes! Love it. Pumped for this year. Why cant this season already have started?

Why cant this season already have started? Where's it going to be played at or am I missing sarcasm? Largest attendance at an NCAA game in somewhere other than a huge dome like JerryWorld in Dallas is gonna be hard to pull off. ~70K for the Final Four in Atlanta this past year or NOLA in 2012 alone. Agree that Duke-Syracuse will be a big game though.
August 18, 201313 yr Hmmm. Dont know why I put all time there. But for the game I think its being moved to the middle of the carrier dome. Predicted at 50, 000+.
