Someone like a Carlos Quentin, a Mike Morse, or (if he can get healthy) maybe a Corey Hart? Nevermind on Quentin, his contract is going to make him impossible to move.

What if Cueto gets hurt again? What if Leake becomes the Leake of last year? I don't trade away Cingrani given the Reds lack of depth. It's as simple as that.

It has been demonstrated several times over the last 10 years that a team with a very good offense and an average rotation can make the playoffs. The Yankees are a great example. With Stanton the Reds are a top 5 (at worst) offense in the National League. They can beat up on the bad rotations no matter who is in the 5 spot in their rotation. The difference is they would have 4 legit starters for the playoffs in Latos, C ueto, Bailey and Leake. Who cares who their 5th starter is in the regular season. They won't use them in the playoffs anyway. The could have had Lohse this season cheap, there will be another innings easter out there next season. The Red Sox gave up Hanley Ramirez and Anibal Sanchez..that was a high price, but it paid off in a World Series Championship. Would you trade a ring for a forced roster turnover?

If they would make the trade and Arroyo would walk at season's end, they'd address the #5 spot either through FA or an offseason trade.

June 21, 201313 yr I always side with pitching if it has to be one or the other. However if Stanton is on the table I'd deal Cingrani, though I'd hate to lose him Stanton is a monster (assuming health which is a big assumption).
