August 9, 201313 yr It isn't just the Enquirer, it's national news. It's NBC, CNN, MSNBC, Huffington Post, and every other news outlet there is. The reality TV audience would rather hear scandal than how much they are going to have to spend on health care. They want to hear about details on Wiener than hear that they will be owned by the government. They care more about the Kardashians than they do their own livelihood.
December 14, 201312 yr Author Update, someone has fled the country: Fri, Dec 13 2013, 04:21 PM EDT CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Doctor Atiq Durrani, who faces charges for health care fraud, has fled the country. The spine surgeon is accused of defrauding health care insurance providers. A federal complaint claims he billed Medicare for 12 million dollars between January of 2010 and February of 2013. Investigators claim he profited by convincing patients to undergo medically unnecessary surgeries. More than 100 of Durrani's former patients have sued. The 44-year-old Pakistani citizen had put in a request to visit his dying father in Pakistan. But the US Marshal opposed and the court denied the request. There is a warrant out for his arrest. Dr. Durrani's trial is set for January 13, 2014. If you see Dr. Durrani call the US Marshalls at 614-469-5540. WKRC LOCAL 12 - Top Stories
January 9, 201412 yr At this point, this is probably worthy of a new thread, but... Deters' Medical Malpractice Trial against Dr. Durrani began recently, without Durrani. Doctor's malpractice trial moves forward without him | Hamilton County - WLWT Home
January 9, 201412 yr I get it. The Enquirer is out to sell papers. Deters is high profile. Sarah Jones' case is national news. It's all over Twitter. Could they also mention the other doctor? Sure. But it's the other two stories that people are going to read first. A doctor doing this is pretty Hollywood/Law & Order. It would sell newspapers. Why aren't they covering it?

January 14, 201412 yr Author Deters won the first civil case against Durrani. The next few months will be interesting. Maybe even the Enquirer will take notice.

January 14, 201412 yr What was the verdict? I'll answer my own question: Jury awarded Plaintiff $500,000 in compensatory damages & $40,000 in lost wages. Under Ohio law, the maximum she can receive in compensatory is $250,000, so the judge reduced it accordingly. She has also been awarded $500,000 in punitive damages. January 31, 201412 yr Author Just heard on the radio that Deters has been suspended for 60 days in Ohio. That is because his KY license was suspended and Ohio reciprocates but Ohio waited until after the first Durrani trial to do it. In other words, this was the plan for a long time.
January 31, 201412 yr Author How much money will any of these victims really get? Considering the first case was one of the "lease serious" it appears that will be a big number.
