I don't expect much discussion in this one but the talent Harrodsburg produced deserves mention.

There are so many more talented players that came through Harrodsburg. I wish I was more qualified to speak more about these three and their high school days as well as the many others that deserve mention.

Those are great players. I still think Henry Parks was one of the best 2 or 3 players I ever saw play from ANY school and he would be my #1 Hog of all time.

 

Venus Meaux and Bo Yeast are a couple others that were great in the 70s and would be a part of the conversation.

It is amazing the amount of talent that came from that school!

Where do you start? I would probably change my mind a lot on this.

 

1. Venus Meaux. He did it all from the defensive side and helped open the holes as well from the single wing for Henry Parks.

 

2. Dennis Johnson. When talking High School you have to have him on the list. He was that hailed.

 

3. Bo Yeast. Just before my time but enough legend is there to go with the stats. A beast of a runner and a man amidst boys on the field.

 

Now, what about the rest?

 

Henry Parks. At one time the leading scorer in the history of the State. Went on to play at UK.

 

Nicky Yeast. Much quicker in High School before he beefed up as a FB at EKU. Strong and powerful with a burst and

 

Gus Parks. (right beside him) Gus was tough and fast. Had a great career at EKU as a DB.

 

Donald Smith. Made Alvis change from the Single Wing to the I formation. He carried the mail for them and had a fine career at WKU.

 

Craig Yeast. Need we say more?

 

Jason Dunn. A fine player at Harrodsburg but really blossomed as a TE at EKU and later in the NFL.

 

Of all the schools, this is one of toughest to get to 3 players.

FWIW, I would have taken Julius over Dennis in HS...

Absolutely. For a school their size I'm not sure if there is any other with more talent than the Pioneers had. Just insane.
