Who's your favorite to make it to State from the 9th region?

Featured Replies

I agree those are the top teams but I think you forgot Dixie.Dixie is the third best team in that district but by the luck of a tie breaker will get to play Ludlow and the 2 best teams will have to play each other in St. Henry and Lloyd.I give the edge to St. Henry they have the best pitcher in the region in Kuebbing.

You are correct. Dixie is definitely one that will make it out of the district.

Dixie will for sure make it out.All they have to do is beat Ludlow. They really got lucky by the tie breaker in the 34th.St. Henry and Lloyd are the best 2 teams in the district by far.

Does Dixie have a strong #2 pitcher or a #1 that can match with the NCC, Ryle, Conner #1's and 2's?

Bottom line is this region is wide open.

NCC

Highlands

Ryle

Connor

CovCath

Holy Cross

St. Henry

Lloyd

Beechwood

All have strengths that, with the right draw, and pitching match up COULD win the region. My guess is that this will be an awesome regional tournament.

I like one of these two to make it out. Hitting and pitching are strong.

Not even close.Dixie is very weak on pitching this year. The 2 best pitchers in the district are Kuebbing fron St. Henry and Brown from Lloyd. That will be a great game to watch.I hope Brown is at his best the last 2 times ive seen him he has not preformed very well.

I would have to disagree about Dixie being the third best team in the region. They beat Lloyd with their ace on the mound and gave the game away to St Henry. Other than their first 2 games of the year, Dixie has either won or had an opportunity to win in every game. That includes games against all the teams you list in your top 5 (lost to Ryle in 7th by 1, beat Conner, beat NCC, was beating Highlands when rain came, lost to Beechwood with ~63 errors in game). The big question for Dixie is if they can get a pitcher on the mound to throw strikes and limiting the errors behind him.

I was at both the games you mentioned. They didnt give the game to St. Henry what happened is Lacorte started and struggeled and they brought in Kuebbing who was lights out.The Lloyd game Dixie really got lucky when the 2 best players in the district had the worst games of their life.Brown pitched bad hitting 5 batters and walking 3 and Stevens left 8 runners onbase and struck out twice against a very average pitcher. My opinion St. Henry is the best and Lloyd a close second.

I will give a nod to both Kuebbing and Petticourt on the St Henry win. Kuebbing did hold Dixie scoreless and if Maxwell had taken a lesson from St Henry and gotten the starter out quicker, they may not have scored 6 runs on 2-3 hits.

As for the Lloyd game, 2 players do not a team make. This is why Dixie is (my opinion) and should be the best team in this district every year. They are a 6A in a district with 3 1A's and a 2A (I think).

As for the very average pitcher, he does have wins over the 2 best players in the district and your #2 pitcher in the region.

You make a great point about being a 6 a school.I wasnt belittleing the game the young man pitched against Lloyd. His name escapes me but he threw a good game.My point was its not very often the 2 players I mention will have those types of games and I think Dixie is very fortunate to win that game.

Dixie and St. Henry will advance from the 34th.

I agree Dixie will run rule Ludlow.I do however think the Lloyd- St. Henry game will be worth watching.Kuebbing vs Brown.I give the edge to ST.Henry I think Kuebbing will be too much for them but I can see a good game.

Flip a coin. NCC coming off a big tourney, CovCath and Highlands both playing well, Ryle and Connor strong teams. All these teams can beat one another on any given day. We all know its not the best team, but who's the hottest. Make your case for who is the hottest?
