Glad all of the errors didn't lead to runs.

However.....

One unearned run in the district/region can end your season

4 errors in game (not the first time this year) means your pitchers are throwing a lot more pitches

If the majority of your errors are from a few players then those players have doubt creep in occasionally. Never good.

CCH O is not as potent as it has been in recent years so this particular team cannot count on overcoming unearned runs.

Clyde.....all good points if you are referring to teams in general.

I see you commenting on CCH quit often and know you are a fan and supporter. How about coming out and actually seeing a CCH game before you become an expert and rank them against others.......how tough were the schedules of your comparison team?, What were the stats of those other teams?, which teams are you referring too?, are errors your only ranking criteria or are you using others?, Need facts please......

No team from at any level can count on overcoming unearned runs. So I agree with your statement.

FYI....at this point in the season, the record of this team is better than other CCH teams in the past and worse than others. However, the strength of schedule is up near the top, using ranked Ky teams.

Also.....don't necessarily disagree with you about the potency, but I've seen almost all V games this year (minus the Frosh games I had to go to), but in certain areas, I see this team has more strengths than others in the past. Experience is definately not one of them.....especially if you are referring to teams from the past 2 years. You have to consider the fact that all but 1 player saw any V time the last 2 years. The players this year averaged about 4 innings total in the field last year and about 10 total at bats all season (minus that one player).

I'm just asking for more facts and less general statements. I may actually agree with you if I consider your side....but I need to know where your side comes from.

Hope that makes sense.

Makes sense but I don't think it's on point. I'm not looking at W/L record. I know they've played a strong schedule.

What I AM looking at is game reports which, as I've mentioned previously, shows a pattern of errors. It's past the point of being an aberration. It's a pattern and , as I thought I stated pretty clearly, it's not a pattern that you want to see for a team who has aspirations of advancing deep into post-season play.

I applaud the team for their success considering 99% of them have not had a lot of varsity experience.

However, when it comes to making evaluations and prognostications I can't use excuses or factors. All I can use is current-year performance as compared to other teams.

So tell me where exactly you think I'm wrong or off-base.

Good win for NewCath, especially coming off of the loss to Lloyd. I was really pleased to see Brandon Gray get the start and win in this game. That kid is a gamer and has earned his chance at being in the Varsity rotation.

I hear ya Clyde......So it sounds as if you are basing your stance about potency on one category from all of the game reports. Errors. That does help me understand where you are coming from.

I wonder if you would agree that there are different levels of errors? A "through the wickets" is much different than a dive, hop up but make a hurried throw that is off line. A play against a #1,3,9, etc team that has unbelievable speed and makes the player hurry a throw, or a team that can take the extra base on a one time bobble in throw from the outfield is different from one that doesn't even try to take the base. Or a throw off line from a ball that comes up wet and muddy on a field where the ball sinks in the mud when a pop lands, is a little different as well.

My bottom line, is that the game reports list quantity of errors that TOG reports, not QUALITY. I actually put more stock in TOG's reports and book than the teams I hear have players keep the book..........but because there is a discrepancy and TOG can't be everywhere, it is hard to compare.

Not being at the games.......you cannot possibly know if these are errors from plays that someone else may not have even gotten to (Grammer, sorry)......

Now, with that said......I am not saying all of the errors fall into the Quality category, but before you make a potency comment about the team in general, you should have all the facts, not just the numbers from the report.

My example......Brandon Philips gets charged with some errors that others would not, simply becuase he gets to more balls than others do........

I understand where you are trying to go, but not sure I can follow you all the way. I think seeing the team play one, two, three games may make your point have more weight, but simply reading off a game report, makes it pretty light.......

Still respect your opinion, but not sure I can support you on this one.

You've made the quality point previously and , in theory, I agree. However, the sheer number of errors I see listed for each game makes me struggle to believe a large number are of the "dive for a great stop and then make a bad throw" variety. I could be wrong but odds say I'm not.

Maybe they're just careless and they'll be more focused in the big games but... it should be a concern. It is to me.

Clyde....come to a game and I'll buy you a Gruber Burger and we can watch and figure it out together.....

You know how to my attention!

I believe the nearest fielder gets credit for the put out.

THIS!

I'm with Clyde. If the errors continue, the Colonels will be in a lot of trouble come tournament time.

It's always nice to see the younger kids get a shot. Pitching isn't the problem for this years team, it's hitting. When you look at the box score it's the same names producing hits and runs. They've got to figure out how to get the rest of the team involved or they won't make another run for a state title.

This team definitely doesn't hit like teams in recent years. It'll be tough to get out of their district/region not scoring runs.

And that is what I did, except I still gave 7 an error!

So who should get the Put out on the hitter running past the on base runner? Haven't had time to look that one up! Anyone!

My bad. I misread your post and thought you were asking how to score it.

Carry on.
