Holmes coach resigned per Stan Steidel.

Saw this one coming. Coach Calcaterra did a great job, good luck to him.

 

Heard this might be coming as well... Did he get a job at another school?

Lose anymore 9th Region coaches and we may have to have player coaches like in the old days of the NBA.

Will Lee Turner get the position now that Coach Calcaterra is out of his way.

Coach Calcaterra is a FIRST class individual who I felt did a good job at Holmes. His teams were well prepared and I felt improved. His big wins vs Holy Cross last year are a testament to his preparation and commitment to his players. Holmes lost a good coach and a good man. I wish him nothing but the best.

I agree with Irish but there was underlying issue there with the coaching staff. Interesting to see how late in the season Coach Calcaterra waited before making this move. Makes you wonder if he resigned out of protest because he was unable to choose his staff for next season.

Who was on his staff this past season?

This should be a good job and should have some good applicants. There is talent there, but coaching there is not for everyone. The challenges are what you have in any urban setting. Not that it is bad, just issues, unless you have been in that setting takes time to learn how to work with/through the challenges. The talent level walking the halls and playing should make them competitive every year, just like the boys program. They haven't been a top 5 team in several years in the 9th.

I have been in that setting and love the parents and the kids.

Coach Nelson should be a good person for the Job.
