I wish I hadn't been so busy so I could have watched the game. It would have been pretty cool to watch the game and see Kobe live tweeting during the game.

I have thought for the past few weeks that Kobe was pretty much coaching the team. I thought that was given when Pau returned he told him to stay on the block and ignore D'Antoni. He was just reaffirming that.

 

I have no idea what got in to Manu yesterday. He must have flown to Germany to have the miracle surgery or he has just been sandbagging the past few weeks. Parker is still not right.

I plan to watch the rest of the series but it definitely doesn't feel the same. Between no Kobe and no drama until we get to the Knicks/Heat and Thunder/Heat the playoffs will suck unfortunately.

The playoffs are not that climatic because we know the end result, but what I watched over the weekend was better than any round of the NCAA tournament this past season.

The quality of basketball is awesome!

I can't decide if the quality is so awesome or that the college basketball quality is so poor. Probably a mixture of both but the gap has widened the past few years. If I didn't have strong rooting interests with UK and MSU I probably would not watch any college basketball.

Absolutely. And it makes perfect sense when you look at the numbers. You take only the best of the best from high school teams and put them into Division 1 NCAA basketball. Then you take the best of the best from that and combine them with the best of the best from smaller leagues around the world and you'll have a product featuring absolutely elite talent all over the place. Plenty of guys who dominated college ball that can barely get off the bench in the NBA. Makes for a good product.

 

The reason people like NCAA ball more than the NBA is emotional, not aesthetic... no matter what they say. Speaking as someone who's a much bigger fan of college ball than professional, it's definitely the case for me.

The problem with the NCAA tournament is that it is an inverted pyramid of excitement. And the excitement that does come from the tournament is of the result of teams playing bad basketball. I love it too, but it is really backwards from why should love something generally speaking.
