COD: Prestige advantages and disadvantages

I'm about at that point so I was wondering what are the advantages of prestiging in COD? I may not see the big picture but all I see is you losing everything you worked for and having to start over at zero.

I prestige but I can see why some don't. I like the extra custom classes.

 

In this cod when you prestige the gun attachments don't reset unless you prestige the gun. So once you unlock a gun you have what you had before.

I like the extra custom classes but I hate losing my guns that I have worked so hard to get. I'll have the prestige option this weekend and likely will since it is Double XP again. I probably won't prestige again though until the next Double XP weekend rolls around. There aren't as many guns that I am attached to on this installment like on the others so that makes it easier. One of my favorite classes is the Scout Recon.

In black ops 2, you have to prestige if you want to use all of the weapons, perks, and score streaks because you only have a limited amount of unlock tokens, everytime you prestige your tokens reset. So you can try new things. When you prestige you also get a permanent unlock, for example if you really like the AN-94, you can have it at level 1 the next prestige, you can do this every prestige.

Because you only use a couple of guns probably. If you stayed at level 50 no prestige, and used all of your unlock tokens, there would still be all kinds of score streaks, guns, and perks that you would never get to use.

I haven't played BO2 a ton, but when I played MW2 I experimented with nearly every weapon on my way to 10th prestige. I found it boring to use the same weapons and set up all the time. I'm sure we all play our own way. If I wanted to post better scores I'd go to my "best" classes, but for the most part I mixed up what I did very often. This also led to prestiging faster as you got to use all the weapon point bonuses.

After you prestige, go to your barracks to prestige awards. This is where you recieve an extra create a class spot, and where you can keep a weapon, perk, or score streak.

It was 2xp last week for the 360 with the release of the new maps. Ps3 will get the maps in 3 weeks, it will be 2xp for the ps3 and cp then.
