Looks good to me, as always. I agree with the tie at 5 between Ashland and Elliott.

Looks good, but I wouldn't put Russell ahead of Boyd yet. Since they play this week, let the Red Devils prove that they belong ahead of the Lions first.

I don't..I think Ashland is definitely better than Elliot Co.

Luckily, we'll get to test this theory on February 7th!

If you ask me the Tomcats are better than any team in the region when they play like it. But they are very inconsistent and are also capable of getting beat on almost any night.

1. Cougars

2. Eagles

3. Devils

4. Lions (Boyd)

5. Lions (Elliott)

6. Tomcats

7. Ramblers

8. Musketeers

9. Vikings

10. Raiders

11. Comets

12. Panthers

13. Wildcats (Bath)

14. Wildcats (Menifee)

15. Royals

16. Lions (Lewis)

May be the closest Cub and I have ever been. Better check my temperature.

Really difficult to rate the region. May be the tightest ever. #2 Fairview needs 3 clutch free throws to get to overtime vs. #14 Menifee. Then beats #5 by 30!!!!

I would put Rose Hill above Bath although it doesn't matter.

I just feel like Bath's wins are a nudge better than Rose Hill's. The win over Elliott carries a little weight for the Wildcats.

The tougher call for me was to rank Menifee over Rose Hill. The Cats only have 2 wins. But they would have several wins had they played David, Riverside and Piarist. The Wildcats (Menifee) have been snake bitten in several games with some of the better teams in the region.

Like I said it is TIGHT.

TBF- All these comments and nothing about the Rams??? Come on!!!!

I agree with Nothingbutnet -

If Russell beats Boyd this week, then they should clearly be ahead of them, but as of today, I think Boyd should still hold the #3 spot.

If I were ranking the top 10 in the region (with reasoning in parentheses), I would go with:

1. Morgan Co. (10-1 vs. the 16th region)

2. Fairview (Won 9 of last 10 with only loss on the road at Boyd)

3. Elliott Co. (Won 16 of last 18; will either prove me right in last 5 games or make me look stupid - last 5 are Fairview, Ashland, Raceland, Morgan and Russell)

4. Russell (Won 6 in a row and 8 of 9; 3 of their losses were to 2 Lexington schools and Bishop Brossart)

5. Boyd (Best player in the region, but not the best team; lost 3 of last 4)

6. Ashland (If based on record they would be lower, but based on coaching and history, I'll put them in the top 6)

7. Raceland (Decent record, but haven't beaten anyone in the top 6)

8. Greenup (Also a decent record; but most of their wins are against subpar teams; lost 4 of 6, including one to Raceland)

9. Rowan (Usually plays everyone tough, but seems to come up short)

10. East Carter or West Carter (Hard to say; East has lost 6 of 8 and West has lost 4 in a row after showing some promise)

This, of course, is just my opinion and I can look at everyone else's top 10 and see their reasoning, as well. The bottom line - 1) its hard to predict high school basketball and 2) this region is up for grabs this year.

Amen - on both counts.

Wireman that was a good poll. Looks like most on here agree on Top 10 for most part.

Its really a crap shoot as to whose number 1-5 in this region. I would feel safe betting that the winner of the region will come from the top 6 teams in my poll and that's about it. There's so many things that could happen - Elliott could shoot 50% for the tournament and win, Owens could score 40 every game and Boyd might win, Ashland's coaches might pull out a 3-game scheme that will lead them to victory, Morgan might put a full game together in all 3 games and win, Fairview has a good team and Russell seems to be peaking at the right time. I guess the favorite should probably be Morgan, but whose to say they won't draw Elliott in the first round of the district and not even make it to the Regional? Its just one of those crazy years that makes us all love high school basketball!!!
