Justin Amburgey -- Coached at Knott County Central few years back

Tim Parks -- Former June Buchanan Head Coach

Jim Hicks (Grant County Coach)

Brian Hall (Powell County Coach)

Matt Watterson (Lee County Girls Coach)

What are they saying about this out in Primrose?

I honestly don't know what they are saying. I think he was just tired and wanted to take a break for couple years, I wouldn't say he's done from coaching for good because he's a young coach and still has a lot of years left ahead of him but for now he's done. The one guy I would like to see get it is Brian Hall over at Powell. I hear they are some people including a big business man that wants Hall gone from Powell

I don't think Coach Wright is done teaching at Lee County but he is done coaching. With Lee not posting the position on KHSAA tells me that they will either stay within the school system or only a handful of people will know it's open.

Why would Jim Hicks or Brian Hall be mentioned as possible candidates at Lee Co., they both have much better jobs now.....rumor mill is sky high.....no way either of these guys would even think about Lee Co.

I don't know about Hicks but I could see Hall going to Lee especially if he gets ran out of Powell...I can tell you this because I seen it with my own eyes, Hall was treated badly this past season by the Powell Administration and theirs a big business that donates a lot and I mean a lot of money to that school, that wants him gone...Usually when a school has that type of people, if they want something done the school usually does it.

I talked to him at the state tourney. He is still teaching at Lee Co, why they may have to go within the system. He told me that he may go back to coaching some day, but for now he wanted to spend more time with his daughter.

I also heard that he wanted time with his family but wasn't for sure how true it was so I didn't post it. When he does decide to coach again I don't think it will be at Lee County.

Talked with someone close to the Lee County Bobcats, that Josh Broadwell, Jacob McCoy, Matt Watterson have all entered their names in the coaching search. He said that as of right now he feels that Matt Watterson (Lee County Girls HC) is the leader for the boys job. Both Broadwell and McCoy played at Lee County, McCoy played around the early 2000's while Broadwell just graduated high school back in 08. He said he wasn't sure but that Josh maybe an assistant for Lee County. He also said that the people he's talked to has never said Powell County HC Brian Hall's name mentioned for the job. He feels that they will stay in the system for the coaching.

Exactly what I thought would happen.....as long as AD stays in Powell Co. Hall will be safe with his job...

I thought that Watterson would get it, thought it from the beginning. If that is indeed what happens, I believe they will promote an assistant to take over the girls coaching position.

Some schools are choosing to hire within their system to replace coaches due to budget restraints, particularly in the smaller school districts.
