I've heard Henderson is one of the top paying jobs in the State.

Tom Duffy did study hall the whole time he was here. Duffer taught biology but he was the exception. When BT Wayne was the baseball coach he taught PE. When it was cold or raining we played basketball. When it was warm enough to go outside and it wasn't raining we played softball while he worked on the baseball field.

 

I actually had Coach for Personal Finance and i believe he taught another class, maybe psychology, but you are right, most of the time he was the in house/study hall supervisor.

Smith wants to be paid 70,000 (teacher/coach) and do nothing but coach. Schools just won't do it. It is the reason Smith isn't at Dunbar. It's the reason he isn't at Ashland. It's the reason he isn't at Boone. My guess is he won't be at Hendo for the same reason.

 

Can't speak to Ashland and Boone.... But, the reason he isn't at Dunbar is twofold. 1) Couldn't get guarantees to get staff in the building and 2) Lack of flexibility for coaches within the FCPS system - not because of his salary or teaching duties. Pretty sure he has his principals certificate.

With Smith being out of HS football for a few years... Who potentially would be following him to Henderson? In my opinion, bringing assistants with you works better if you are coming from another high school.

I can't promise or guarantee much, but Chuck Smith has no shortage of contacts in the KYHS coaching ranks that I'm sure would go with him in a heart beat to Henderson if the opportunity(s) presented iteself.

 

Matter of fact, if anything, his contact list I'm sure grew substantially while at UK amongst high school coaches.

 

IMO, I don't think this will be an issue wherever he lands. However, taking a HS job and having the luxury of actually bringing in a couple assistants is a whole different story...but, as someone else previously said, if there is a program in the state that could give him everything he needs (in this case, jobs for assistants), it's Henderson.
